Review

Praise for PROSPERO’s CHILDREN:

‘Prospero’s Children is a piece of pure magic – a charming, eccentric, and powerfully imaginative work of fantasy which will enchant readers for years to come’
Clive Barker

‘A lyrical, captivating first novel of mermaids, magic, lost worlds, and found souls. I read it with deep appreciation for the author’s storytelling skills, her memorable images and language, and her ability to make me feel so strongly about her characters. Once read, this book will not be forgotten’
Terry Brooks

I have read all the Jan Siegel books (this is a pseudonym for this author) and was delighted to find more by this author. When I read the first in this series, I burned to get hold of the rest of the trilogy and am currently reading number 3. The hero is a young man on the verge of adulthood, unknowst to him, his parentage is of mixed worlds. He is able to dream himself into other universes and during his adventures, he finds himself fulfilling a quest which he has been born for. There are a myriad of other characters so he does not form the focal point of the book, other story lines run parallel with the othe3r characters which bring diversity and interest to the overall plot. It deals well with the angst of young teenagers, discovering first love, as well as the twinges of evil which lurk at the side of the story with attempts on the young hero's life (as well as bullying). His mom, Annie, is a likeable not too perfect mother, holding the secret of her son's parentage firm to herself. There is a kindly uncle, who is really a wizard, a dwarf, a woodwose....and a police inspector! A strange group of characters but the whole wraps well to make an excellent read. I highly recommend and admit I only came on to Amazon to see what others had said about this series and am so disappointed to see so few reviews, I had to write one myself to try and do some justice to this author and the amount of pleasure I have had reading this and her other books

this book is charming.well written.good characters.the plot is standard quest fare ( collect the trinkets ,save the world etc )but for all that it held my attention and was a real page turner.i ask no more of the writer than that he entertain me and this book succeeds admirably.
