By Rolf Dobelli TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
This book is truly a manual - it consists almost entirely of bullet points, flowcharts, diagrams and little drawings. If that isn't enough for you, it comes with a CD-ROM that provides additional templates and ideas. Tony Bray's focus is utterly practical; he is less interested in theories than in lists of activities. He loves mnemonics and games, some of which sound pretty silly - but will probably work. The book's style is friendly and workmanlike. In fact, Bray may completely overwhelm you with ideas to try. We recommend this book to human-resource managers and others who want to introduce employees to new information, processes or experiences, or to help them brush up on old ones.

Written by training course and workshop designer Tony Bray, The Training Design Manual: The Complete Practical Guide To Creating Effective and Successful Training Programmes is a solid, user-friendly manual offering both theoretical guidance and practical exercises to aid the reader in designing a successful training course for any field, business, or endeavor. Chapters address the importance of analysis for successful formal learning, the STAR design model, the impact of different learning styles, how to create effective course materials, how and when to use audio, visual aids, and e-learning, staging a successful pilot course before going live, and much more. Numerous helpful diagrams, recommended learning activities to stage, and an accompanying CD-ROM filled with templates and source materials round out this all-purpose tool for putting together an effective training workshop. Highly recommended.

HYPE...NOTHING NEW UNDER THE...COVER! 29 Oct 2009
By Yaa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you have over 10 years experience presenting workshops, seminars and training programs...pass this one by!

I hoped there would be some really great, new ideas and exercises and activities. Unfortunately it contained the same old rehashed trainers' rhetoric...too bad expected more. My Badd.

Peace, Yaa
