This is a traditional Christmas recipe book, simply adjusted lsightly for the aga. Not much here you won't find elsewhere. The little bits of Christmas facts at the end of each section are trivial and rather irritating, and the photography is terrible - rather than taking pictures of the food, there are pictures of the ingredients - as if you didn't know what sprouts or carrots look like. Anyway, it's OK, but you'd be better off looking at, say, Delia's Christmas for recipes and adapting them yourself.

Do not bother 25 Feb 2012

What a disappointment. I was expecting far more from Louise Walker. The recipe methods are sometimes ambiguous too and need looking at closely - e.g. look at the Granny's Christmas pudding recipe and see if you can tell whether the pudding should be removed from the pan containing the water prior to putting in oven. Not at all clear for a new Aga user. The recipes themselves are ok but there is nothing in this book that you will not find (better) elsewhere. Finally, what on earth is going on with these photographs? Totally pointless - and not even particularly good. This is the sort of inclusion which makes me really angry. Why not photographs of the finished dishes?
