5.0 out of 5 stars Clear & Straightforward 22 Jun. 2012

This is possibly not the book for you if you are looking for a hard core bodybuilding programme. However, if you are looking to incorporate dumbbells into your overall fitness regime this could be just what you are looking for.

There is a very clear introduction to exercising with dumbbells which, despite my many years experience of training and exercise, managed to make the subject fresh and provided me with new information. The illustrated portfolio of moves together with the "tricks of the trade" is probably the next best thing to having a personal trainer to guide you. The "Trash! don't waste your time" is extremely instructive and these have been jettisoned from my repertoire. The final section provides a variety of graded routines which should keep me busy for some time.

Good book for overall work out programme - simple and easy to follow.
Sometimes I found the author a bit too self-righteous, but perhaps that's just his style...

However if you want something more serious and specialised, with details of muscle groups being worked and programmes geared to specific sports, then go for the book by DELAVIER which is excellent.

A lot of good ideas both for the beginner and long-time self-trainer. Any book on exercise is a welcome thing these days - this one is better than most and I have found it very useful indeed. If you want a start with dumbbell and a few good bodyweight exercises, this is the one for you.
