Book Description

For over ten years, Top Gear has been travelling all over Britain in the course of making the world’s best programme about cars, driving, and three men in smart-casual clothes shouting at each other. So, who better to assemble a guide to Britain itself with all its glories, quirks and multiple words for bread rolls?

This book is not only a guide for outsiders; it is an invaluable reference manual for Britons themselves, like a mirror held up to our very souls.* Join us then, as we travel from A-Z cataloguing and making moderately flippant remarks about every aspect of life and living in the best country in the world after New Zealand, Denmark, probably Canada and some bits of France.

*Although in this case, a mirror that has been dropped and then run over by a small lorry but don’t worry, some bits of it still just about work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely what you imagine it will be! 14 Jan. 2014

Anyone who knows about this devilish trio knows what to expect. Fifty-year old teenagers at their best - although I wonder who really does write this stuff! Well done the writers, whoever you are. A giggle a page. Keep it up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Top Gear Enthusiasts 6 Dec. 2013
By Bekah
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This book was not available on the US Amazon site, but my husband insisted on buying it for his father as a Christmas gift. The American version of Top Gear is awful in contrast to the original, so naturally I agreed. It was a pleasant surprise how quickly this book arrived and how affordable is actually was. I think this book may have more appeal to anglophiles and those who are "really" into the British Top Gear. It's definitely more of a hobby read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift! 7 Mar. 2014
By Nikki
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I gave it to my boyfriend for Christmas to go with his I Am The Stig t-shirt and two of the Where's the Stig? books. He really enjoyed it and would laugh out loud while reading it and show me definitions he knew I would enjoy.
My only complaint is that we're in America and the hardcover isn't sold here, only the Kindle edition. Since he reads on his phone and doesn't have a tablet, I had to order the hardcover from At least the shipping was cheap and I ordered it well ahead of time.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT a Kindle Edition! 10 Aug. 2014
By Max
Format:Kindle Edition
Buyer beware! Although advertised as a Kindle book, this will not download to a Kindle. It is available only to ICloud readers. Thankfully, Amazon processed the refund quickly. Note to Amazon - a book advertised as Kindle edition should download to Kindle.

By kath

I bought it as a birthday gift for a friend who is another Top Gear fan. He thought it was fantastic and was very pleased I'd bought it for him. I'd already skipped through it myself and thought it was very funny and entertaining.

Bought as a gift and the person loved it! An A-Z guide filled with humorous and witty anecdotes describing things from all around the British Isles. A really funny read, whether or not you are a 'Top Gear' fan.
