Product Description

Product Description

We know that the key to children's health, development and happiness lies in the quality of the food we wean them on, and continue to cook for them - and the food they then want to eat themselves. But it's all too easy to fall back on jars of processed baby food when you're feeding your baby - or the same old limited purees you've dished up again and again. Lack of time and knowledge often prevents parents from feeding their babies exciting, nutrient-rich food. However, help is on hand. Christine Bailey, an expert in child nutrition, has devised a set of easy-to-follow recipes to help make first foods simple. The book comes with tables of foods for parents to introduce, and each recipe has a list of nutrients and at-a-glance symbols, as well as tips on preparation and storage. From a simple Fennel & Apple Puree for the first stage, to a Polenta Florentine or Sesame Stir-Fried Pork & Sweet Potato Mash for 7-9 months, or a Creamy Pesto Chicken with Roast Vegetables, Salmon with Mango & Avocado Salsa, or Pear & Coconut Crumble, for 9-12 months, you'll find delicious recipes your baby will love and you'll even want to eat yourself!

I bought this to use alongside the classic Annabel Karmel's meal planner as I was getting a little bored with her meals.
This book is also all purees (rather than BLW) but, in my opinion, the recipes are more adventurous than Ms. Karmel's.

The recipes in this book are much more like ordinary adult food e.g. chicken curry and fish pie and as a result I have multiplied up the ingredients to make larger portions of several dishes to give 4 baby dinners (frozen 3) and a meal for Mum and Dad.

This book exposes baby to a wide range of flavours and introduces them to numerous herbs and spices (you just keep it all fairly mild). Each receipe also has a note alongside it which explains the health benefits of one or more of the ingredients used.

I am due to have my 2nd child and didn't purchase anything like this with my first one and wish I did because the book is laid out in a really productive way and has clear instructions which are easy to follow. To follow the recipes you hardly need any equipment and the equipment you do need you would already have purchase i.e. blender.
All in all this is a good, easy book which will give you the tools, ideas & nutritional advice to feed your baby solid foods.
Excellent would recommend highly.

This book is OK, i thought looking at the front cover it would have been packed with lots of lovely ideas and for what is in the book i found it quiet pricey. I cant comment on the taste of any of the recipes as I have a few months until my little one is born so I have even longer before I start trying and testing any of these recipes. I would recommend having a good look around before just buying this book, I have seen some other books being sold by the same author which look a lot better than this one.
