More About the Author

Beverley Carter was born in Hertford, England. After a few years working as a secretary and office manager, she retrained to work in health and safety. The insights into human behaviour she gained, particularly whilst investigating accidents, have proved invaluable for creating believable characters, gripping plots and complicated motives.

Beverley writes original, cosy mysteries in an accessible writing style. Her characters are often ordinary people, such as your next door neighbour, your boss, the old lady down the road with a Jack Russell terrier, or even perhaps, you.

'My headmaster at junior school used to end assembly every morning with the words: "Treat everybody as you would like to be treated yourself." If everyone followed this simple rule, it wouldn't leave me very much to write about!'

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful tale with a twist 21 May 2012

I very much enjoyed reading this novella about a big pharmaceutical company battling against a 96 year old lady in the hopes that the recipe for her tonic will make them some big money. I found the story to be well-written and fast paced; it was a gripping read. The characters were very likeable and I loved the twist to the ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable novella :) 4 May 2012

A great novella, with lovely characters and a good plot. The whole medicine/pharmacy thing has made it really interesting, but it was kept easy and straightforward (politics can become rather complicated sometimes in this field). Characters are very likeable, I wanted Rose to be my granny ! The end was totally inexpected, and while all of it is fiction, the whole story is very believable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little story 4 May 2012

Hi

Just finished this book, really enjoyed it.

The story is very simple with goodies and badies (large company vs an old lady). The characters are all very strong and the ending is not totally what I was expecting.

Want to say more but can't as it would sort of spoil the story. All I can say is that its really worth a read.

Great book to read over a few cups of coffee on the sofa on a cold winter night.
