We only received this book a couple of days ago but already my toddler & I have done some lovely things suggested in the book. Our favourites so far have included: - freezing small toys and flowers in ice cubes and watching them melt in the bath, - making wonderful pictures by dipping a golf ball in paint and rattling the ball around in an old shoe box, - and, very simply, sticking masking tape to the carpet to make a pathway and walking along hand-in-hand singing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money 19 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
Oh dear - I am really disappointed with this book.
I read the positive reviews and was really excited to be filled with new inspiration for fun with my toddler, but I just got the book & had a quick flick through - and I give you a quote "Give your toddler a box of tissues and let them pull them out one by one"! or "Blowing bubbles with bought bubble mix & straws" or "Finger painting" or "Fill a baloon with helium and let the toddler watch it go up & down" or "ask your toddler "Can you find your knee" or "bath time play - fill bath tub with water and put plastic toys in" or finally "as you drive along recite a nursery rhyme" I mean really it actually makes me laugh. So to be to the point - if you are a normal Mum you will have already thought about 85% of what is in this book - and the other 15% is so messy you might not want to do it. Save your money.

2.0 out of 5 stars You can think of these things yourself.... 14 Feb 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I confess to being a bit disappointed with this book. Hoping that it would supply me with many new ideas to try I found that I had thought of most of them - or variations of them - myself. It also has an American bias which means that some of the recipies are written differently and activities are for different festivals - thanksgiving for example. OK these can be easily adapted, but then why not think of your own?
I have looked at it from time to time but have got more ideas from Childrens TV or my Toddler himself setting me problems like let's make a Thunderbird rocket :-)
Personally I would borrow it from the library as a change but not keep it on my bookshelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, inspirational guide for parents 8 May 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
If you only buy one resource book of ideas on how to entertain and at the same time educate your toddler, then look no further than this book. It's packed to the brim with creative, fun, intelligent and inspirational activities for you to do with your child - whatever the weather! Most activities can be done with one child or with several. Most of the activities don't demand any more than objects found around the house. Many times I've struggled with trying to think of something 'new' and 'fun' to do with my bored toddler, and I can always find something in this book. The only reason it doesn't get that extra star is that a few of the 'ingredients' of some of the more complicated activities or recipies have US/Canadian ingredients without equivalent UK alternatives. But that should not be enough to put you off!! Buy it, you won't be disappointed!

Full of simple, easy, fun games and activities. i have already tried several of the ideas, and my Son and I had great fun together. I have recommended this book and the Pre-schoolers version to everyone i know. Please read it, you'll be glad you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars You need this book!!! 23 Aug 2002
Format:Paperback
After countless hours, days, months of trying to keep my restless toddler amused (18 months old) I finally gave in and admitted defeat. I am so glad I did. This book has a massive range of activities, and there's always an idea for a rainy day.
It has inspired me to think of my own new ways of playing with my son, and gives lots of suggestions for simple and fun activities to do when you're stuck for ideas.
I am going to recommend this book to all my friends with kids as I think it's an absolute necessity for anybody with young children.

4.0 out of 5 stars A useful reference book 10 Aug 2007
Format:Paperback
Unlike some of the other reviewers, I wasn't born with an innate ability to entertain toddlers (even tho I have a Fine Art Degree!)So I found this book very useful. Its true that all 365 activities aren't exactly mind blowing but there are some real gems & the others can be easily adapted to suit you & your child. My daughter is very active & easily bored & frustrated & I found this book to be a great springboard, using Trish Kuffner's ideas as inspiration to create our own special type of fun. I enjoyed the Americanism of the book as, for example, it lists & explains some holidays we don't have in the UK. For anyone lost in toddler tantrums & frustrations, if you only take one piece of advice from this book, let it be this... (try to)"relish the toddler years, because like the fingerprints on the wall, they will be gone before you know it."

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the uninspired 4 Jun 2013
By Sable20
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I know that some reviewers have found the suggestions in this book unoriginal. However, this book is great for the rest of us. I would consider this an ideal lead on from Miriam Stoppard's 'Baby's First Skills'. A lot of the activities could easily be classed as developing skill(s). Some activities are more suitable for older toddlers but I found plenty of low cost ideas to keep my young toddler occupied. You may have read the criticisms of the tissue box game but there is also the more long term suggestion of a sacrifical box (an old tissue box stuffed with scarves - the latter of which can be easily sourced from scrap fabric or charity shops). This book subtly encourages creative thinking in adults too and has given me back weekends of happy play with my child - instead of frantic & stressed out days at a loss as to how to entertain my clearly bored child without buying more toys or singing the same songs again/feeling like an inadequate parent.
