Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Take a moment to read the online introduction and welcome in your software. This explains how Aptitude tests are designed and work. It explains what the tests are designed to reveal and gives you useful tips and strategies on what to do with this self-knowledge.

The programme then takes you, step by step through one test at a time. You will find potential-revealing questions, designed by the very people who conduct these tests every day for businesses, universities and careers selection. Each question helps build the picture of your strengths and weaknesses. Simply select the answer you think is right and move on to the next question in the test.

As you work through each test your results will be stored – out of your sight! And as soon as you have completed a test the programme will immediately give you your results and analysis.

Then – on to the next!

Discover what you can be really good at and exploit it!
Aptitude tests measure your natural abilities. While they don’t require specialist knowledge or a set of finely honed skills, they powerfully reveal your potential to achieve in the future. Job satisfaction – or not?
If you ever have that feeling that you are in the wrong job; or there must be more to life; or that you are surrounded by frustrating confusion – then you are probably working against your natural inclinations. Discover where your aptitudes lie and you can make dramatic improvements even within the job you are currently doing. Make the right decisions
Aptitude tests are an excellent and well-proven way to bring clarity and direction to your career. Unlike ability tests that reveal your existing skills, aptitude tests show whether you would be suitable for particular types of task. The results can have a profound and positive effect on the career development decisions you need to make from time to time. The friendly tests
There are no trick questions. Aptitude tests seek to highlight your true potential. They usefully cut through the distracting static of social and personal beliefs and expectations. Aptitude tests offer an objective assessment and give you a reliable appreciation of what you could really achieve. Work to your strengths and work on your weaknesses
Discovering your real potential is a liberating and powerful experience. It gives you the opportunity to identify and correct your weak areas as well as playing to your strengths. This better balance makes you more widely employable and enhances your job satisfaction. With this knowledge you will make better career and personal decisions. You will approach new tasks with confidence – knowing where you will do well on your own and where it is sensible to ask for help.

The whole point I bought this was to understand how I wanted my career to progress and where my strengths and weakness's lay and for some suggested career paths which I maybe wouldn't have thought of before.
On their suggested careers based on all the tests, all I got was a few very generic suggestions purely based on the Personality Test. I had a slight leaning towards writing and so I was classified as "Arty" and got Ballerina suggested as a career!
I didn't expect miracles and it to know everything, but I did expect something a bit more scientific.
As for the Ability Tests, my confidence in it would be greatly enhanced if the answers they have to all the questions were actually correct. When you have to match 4 sets of shapes to 5 other sets of shapes to work out which one is missing, if only two of the shapes actually match, you're left pretty much guessing which one they think is the right answer. These incorrect answers were few and far between, but it dents your confidence in the whole thing.
Overall, if all you want is something which tells you whether you are arty or business orientated, it will do that, but my advice would be buy a book for this sort of thing.

With this being a Times publication you'd probably expect this to be really professional wouldn't you? Well it's most certainly not! I found this item at my local library and as I was concerned about my future career and my job potential I thought this might help. Well if I wanted to be a proof reader it gave me some practice as there were a few silly mistakes such as spelling mistakes and on one multiple choice question the correct answer wasn't even an option! It didn't help me find anything about what careers I should do just threw out a few job titles of which many were science or technology related, my best subject at college is art! It doesn't have any information about these particular careers either. If you're really concerned about your career get a comprehensive book or speak to another human being don't waste your money on this item.

It is very helpful in practising tests and provides necessary aid in enhancing reasoning and numerical skills as well as other aptitude skills. I've not rated this 100% yet as I am still working through the CD, but it is well recommended if you are looking for jobs which require these sorts of tests.
