Book Description

1 April 2010 Times Killer Su Doku (Book 6)

This sixth and toughest addition to the successful Times Killer Su Doku series will test your skills to the limit, adding the challenge of arithmetic and taking Su Doku to a new and even deadlier level of difficulty.

The puzzles use the same 9x9 grid as Su Doku but with an added mathematical challenge. The aim is not only to complete every row, column and cube so that it contains the digits 1-9, it is also necessary to ensure that the outlined cubes add up to the same number as well.

With 150 new Tough and Deadly Killer Su Doku puzzles, there is no chance to ease yourself in with easy puzzles. For those who like to live dangerously and push beyond their mental comfort zone, steel yourself for The Times' toughest collection yet.

This is a great improvement on the previous books in the series as it starts at a much tougher level which avid KS puzzlers will appreciate

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as much differentiation as earlier books 9 Jan 2014

I love the Times Killer Sudoku books for their level of challenge. I also love the fact that each puzzle comes with a target time, so I can measure my success not only by whether I've solved the puzzle but also by how quickly I've solved it with respect to the target time. That's really wonderful for a competitive person like me.

The earlier books in this series range from puzzles I can solve in under five minutes to those I need well over an hour to solve. That's perfect for me because I have puzzles I can pick up if I have a few minutes to kill and don't want to risk getting involved in an actual project, and at the other end of the spectrum I have puzzles that I like if I have an evening to luxuriate in some me-time. This book disappointed because there was far less differentiation in the puzzles. So while in Book Two (for example) there are 45 puzzles of an easier grade than "Tough," in this (Book Six) there are only twenty.

It's as if the editors think that once people have mastered this type of puzzle they no longer have as much interest in quicker puzzles. For me it's just the opposite: I can go through the quicker puzzles so fast now that I wish there were twice as many of them in the later books rather than fewer than half as many!

When I finish a puzzle book I'm not looking for a book with primarily longer puzzles (if I wanted that I'd buy Ultimate Killer books instead). Rather, I'm looking for a new book to fill the void left by the one I just finished. YMMV, as always.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kill The Times 17 Nov 2013

I bought it for her in-doors because she likes doing the puzzles. Plus it keeps her quiet and out of my hair. Peace at last.... thanks Times... I can read my comics now.. I bought 7 of these books so having to give my view for each is a bit stupid.. should be able to lump them altogether.
