5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Supplement for A Level Biologists 8 May 2003
By A Customer
I am currently studying A Level Biology and this software has really helped me through my revision. It is partcularly good in that it contains both quick and exam style questions for each section and will calculate your score after completing each one so that you can check your progress. If you haven't got much memory space on your computer then this is ideal: it can either be installed so there is no need to insert the CD everytime you want to use it, or it will run directly from the CD.
Topics covered include photosynthesis, respiration, homeostasis, biological molecules, the environment and cell structure. I found this software particularly useful on photosynthesis and the nervous system which are explained throughly with a range of diagrams to support the text and if you don't like reading from a computer screen then there is no need to worry because you can chose whether or not to have the main text read out to you.
It doesn't matter what syllabus you are studying I can guarentee that this software package will be of real use to you, taking the stress out of revision and helping you to improve or maintain your grade.A great change from hand-written notes!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect solution for revision 18 April 2003
By A Customer
I found the strong point of this software was its coverage of the central nervous system which was a topic that I found confusing. After each section there is an option to try either exam style questions or quick questions, which are really useful if you are in the intial stages of revision and want to check how much you have taken in. At the end of the questions it calculates your score and answers are provided after each question. Coverage of homeostasis is particularly good and the presentation of ideas and difficult concepts through the use of diagrams makes learning A-Level Biology a much more rewarding experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Irish education view 22 May 2002
By A Customer
having showed this to a number of my students, i found that, although designed for the British A-level system, it still suits the Irish leaving cert system. the information is presented in a clear logical way and diagrams are easy to understand. some diagrams had small movies to show how the features were formed and students found this very useful however this feature was found on only 3 diagrams. more could have been given. it goes into more detail then what is necessary for the leaving cert but i do feel that expansion is always good. it can serve as a good discussion tool. as a different stimulus for your students i totally recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A useful intro to Statistics 15 April 2002
I'm doing a degree in Psychology with the Open University and the course assumes either that you already know lots of stats or that you can pick it up while learning to use a computer Stats package.
This CD Rom fills in a lot of the basics which are assumed in more advanced texts. It's not just suitable for A Level students, but can be used by anyone who wants to go beyond the mean, mode and median without being overloaded with all the maths that a rigorous stats course entails.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really helpful 25 Mar. 2002
By A Customer
I have been long stuggling with the mechanics aspect of AS maths. However I am certain that this CD has really helped and I even passed my mock in mechanics! I now am revising hard using this CDROM as part of my programme, it is easy to use and holds a lot of relevant information as well as questions for me to practise with. I would definately recommend this to anyone who asks!

I bought this CD hoping that it would help with my revision plan for A Level.
Pure Maths is arguably the hardest out of the three maths subjects, however, it does not teach all of the required maths.
It provides a narration for each page, but the number of pages to review each subject is poor. This is a CD only for people looking to test themselves - and not revise from.
For each subject, there is a question test, and a real exam question. This sounds good, but the number of exam questions is very small.
On the plus side, it works to all exam boards, and it has comprehensive information to help you revise. However, I personally don't think that there are enough questions to really test you. It does however explain the answers, indicating why you went wrong.
Don't take this to be a bad review, however, I would only recommend this software to those who are looking for more questions to answer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful! 31 May 2005
By A Customer
This is the best biology software that I have tried. It covers all the topics even for the 2005/2006 exams. It is reasonably interactive and has various animations that clarify complex areas of the syllabus. You can choose to have the information read out to you or not and there are exams questions or quick questions; both relevant and both very helpful indeed. This makes learning and revising a Level biology so much easier.
