An extremely useful Atlas for general reference. Although smaller than many atlases the clarity of the maps is exceptional. The supporting documentation of countries, climate and statistics is very useful for general knowledge. Finally it fits nicely on my bookshelf.

I already own one world atlas and it's massive. What I was after was an atlas that was much smaller but with just as much detail and ' The Times Desktop Atlas Of The World' was just what I was looking for. It has very detailed maps, lists of the flags of the world and many facts relating to various countries. It is compact enough to carry around with you and it isn't too heavy.

If you too are interested in buying a reasonably small atlas then you would be hard pressed to beat this very good effort.

Bought this for my Mum. She loves it because it's not heavy or cumbersome to get off the shelf. She uses it as a reference for crosswords etc and says it's got everything she wants.

This Desktop Atlas is excellent - 'it does what it says on the tin'. Of course, a larger edition would be perfect but then I wasn't looking for a big heavy atlas which gets used less use simply because it cannot be conveniently housed in any of my bookshelves. (My coffee table isn't large enough either!) This is a great reference book which is now frequently used. Great value for money, quality pages, lots of information about each country and not too small to read - (though I do still need to wear my glasses.)A good buy.

This is a good quality, compact atlas with good information and features to back up the maps. It has a strong, hardback cover and nice, heavy gsm shiny paper - just what you would expect from a Times atlas. It is a nice size for the desktop and the maps are detailed enough without being full of clutter. You'll get all the main locations, towns and cities but not the tiny hamlets and so on. Good price from Amazon too. Only downside was that the copy I recieved had a small scratch on the cover. The cover has a gold-leaf effect layer on top and so this scratch meant it was prone to future tearing. It was bought as a Christmas present so I sent it back to Amazon for a refund and bought the same product from a high street store for about £2 more. This was the first time I had ever had to send something back to Amazon, which was disappointing but Amazon refunded the money quickly and the process was very easy.

A great Atlas to own or give as a gift. Large clear print throughout. Not the sort of Atlas you need to find a table to place it on before opening it, a great workable size and weight. Loads of extra useful information, population, flags etc. Fabulous for young and old to gather knowledge.
