3.0 out of 5 stars Mild Slapstick 3 Oct 2009
Some mild slapstick is all that saves this comedy. Richard Hearne is Mr Pastry (a famous character he played for many years on stage, tv and film) and is okay in the role (looking like 'Allo 'Allo's Jack Haig). The music soundtrack is awful. A few familiar faces help - Richard Wattis, Harry Towb, Peggy Ann Clifford

3.0 out of 5 stars Mr Pastry 6 Feb 2011
People of my age grew up watching him.
Slightly disappointing film but great to have a memory of him.
There are some slapstick gems & thats how we remember him.
Who remembers 'The Lancers' Mr Pastry's masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank You, Mr Pastry 23 Mar 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
For those unfamiliar, the Mr. Pastry comedies (Richard Hearne) are gentle, old fashioned stories. No swearing, no vulgarities, just sweet, gentle humor. Mr Pastry is a bungler, yet somehow he manages to win his way into your heart. The story is simple, he goes to live with his adult daughter, who is ashamed of him. Her husband has political aspirations and she only wants her fine father to hide, going so far as to lock him in his bedroom. Of course the couple's children see Mr. Pastry as something wonderful and he helps them through a problem, prompting even his daughter to see Mr. Pastry in a new light. Gentle, charming, they don't make them like that anymore.
