This is easily the best book I've seen on timber frame construction, an endangered craft in the UK. The book goes though every stage of construction of modern American timber frame, illustrated beautifully by many photos and clean line drawings. You wont find anything medieval and you wont find much of a history, but aside from that the book is flawless. I'd pay double the price without hesitation!

This is a wonderful book about timber frames. As an architect i can say this book is perfect from every aspects. Complete and understandable for every kind of readers. It gives a lot of important design and technical information in a form of an artistic photo album.

This is the second book I have bought authored by Tedd Benson, and it is a refreshing insight into both some possibilities, and the more prosaic stuff, like figuring how to run electrical cables. It still lacks (for me) decisions such as 'which design should I use to achieve a particular roof requirement?', and I suppose Tedd considers that a little too basic for his book. That will not dissuade me, I still love this book.
