This has too many references to American medical practises/culture/resources to be of any huge benefit to British/worldwide readers. It contains some pretty good info on some foods and supplements that may help but a lot of them were unsuitable for vegans/veggies as they contained animal products.

I suppose if you'd never done any research on what foods might help then you might find some useful info in there.

Like any book that preaches to have the most up to date knowledge on diet and health you really can't take anything for granted. For example the consumption of Soy for thyroid patients is something which is so widely debated, that you really can't take anything as fact, rather you have to experiment and learn to listen to your own body.

It also felt to some degree, like a platform to advertise for her friends or perhaps just colleagues; programmes, services and products. Like every 3rd page was trying to sell you something new. Plus a lot of it seemed common sense. Perhaps I've been with this condition so long I find it hard to find genuinely new and inspiring ideas and solutions to this problem?

I didn't find it comforting to hear all of the typical anecdotes about thyroid patients being mismanaged or the lack of reliable testing available etc, it was actually kind of depressing and frustrating to know how the drug companies and health 'professionals' care so little for something which affects so many people in such a variety of ways.

Having had little or no information from the NHS I found the content of this book invaluable. If you have a thyroid problem you should definitely read and digest what Mary says. One month after reading it I've lost a stone already

very poor, its basically a literature review of other diets and peoples thoughts on thyroid problems, with no revolutionary ideas as the title suggests.

I found this book very enlightening. It is not biased in favour of one regime or another but simply puts foward the argument for the reader to choose , from their own evidence base, what to apply to themselves.
I wanted to be armed with more information for my condition and also to lose the weight which I had gained due to it. After one month I am on the road to achieving both objectives, partly with the help of this book.
It still requires the reader to put in effort, but for me, this is worthwhile after not achieving my goals by other routes.

A well written book that explained, in layman's terms, the exact problems. It went on to explain many of the problems I am experiencing. A good read.

From its title I thought the book would guide you on the best foods for weight loss with an under active thyroid or at least give good guidance.

However it was a mini medical update all about under/ over active thyroid.. Had I not been a clinician it would have gone over my head.

It was very repetitive and frankly I found it boring . This may have been because my knowledge about the problem( I have under active thyroid) is very good and am a clinician

I feel the book is miss sold, it's not about a diet at all. I would not recommend it as an aid to weight loss which is what a " diet " usually refers to and feel cheated by its title
