Book Description

18 Sep 2003
Zara, Ziggy and Zoe are three little witches who live together in Magic Wood, where anything can happen. Cups and saucers wash themselves up, letters sprout wings, a calendar sings a song, the signpost changes direction, and Wizard Wink's school moves from place to place. These seven stories show the little witches' daily doings and their preparations for a Hallowe'en party with Baby Dragon, the Troll family, two little wizard boys and a horrid little witch called Melissa. Punctuated by catchy rhymes and speech bubbles, the stories demand to be read aloud, and with their bright, funny pictures and lively design they are hugely appealing.

Product Description

Amazon Review

Zara, Ziggie and Zoe are three little witches who live together in the confusing world of magic wood. Strange things happen here: brooms sweep up by themselves, cups and saucers jump into the washing bowl without any help, taps turn on, broomsticks crash, cats fall off and spells go wrong. Read about the magic school and meet the little witches' friends: wizard Wink, Baby Dragon, the Troll Children, the Wizard Boys and dreadful Melissa. The author and illustrator are both well known and they have combined very successfully to produce this wonderful, exciting book which is sure to capture little imaginations. Particularly amusing are the comments written alongside the illustrations, which add greatly to the whole enjoyment of the eight stories in the book. Suitable for a wide range of children, this book can be read aloud and shared by the very young, while older ones can read it for themselves. --Susan Naylor --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! 21 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
My mother just gave this to my daughters, who are nearly 2 1/2 and 4 1/2, and we all love it! The pictures are detailed enough for my younger, there's enough depth and interesting stuff for my elder, and it's well-written enough for me! It is our new favorite book. I am sure we will read it over and over and over again. The book itself is very high-quality. I love the glossy pages and the maps on the endpapers.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book 10 Jun 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
bought this for my six year old. Great book for children to read themselves as it is a 'proper' book but has colour pictures between the writing so children aren't put off. Also good book for bedtime story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for long journeys 23 Nov 2007
Format:Paperback
We bought this for our 3 1/2 year old to while away an hour or so on a long car journey (obviously the edition with the CD). She really loves it, and although my husband and I found Amelia Fox's narration a little annoying at times (some hilarious singing moments), she does a very good job of it. The book is lovely too with wonderful illustrations and a good text/pictures balance for children who like a bit more of a story but need the distraction of something to look at while they're listening. We come back to it again and again - it has been great value. We have also had success with Julia Donaldson's Princess Mirrorbelle.

The Three Little Witches Storybook is very entertaining. With it's bright red cover it's easy to find on the bookshelf and worth taking down again and again. Each chapter tells us a little more about the three little witches, Zara, Ziggy and Zoe as well as continuing with the original story line of their adventures in the Magic Wood. The pages are colorful and exciting to read or just fun to look at if ones looking at it alone.

Avilee 6 1/2 for www(dot)bigbooklittlebook(dot)com

This book is about is about three little witches. They made funny spells like this…

“Splitter, splitter, splatter
Sausages and batter
Bake them in a dish for tea
For Ziggy and Zoe and me!”

The story is about the fun the adventures that the three little witches have with their friends.

My favourite part is when they flooded the kitchen because it looked like a swimming pool. I didn’t like when Melissa was always cross, I preferred it when there was lots of fun and laughing.

I was able to read this book by the swimming pool on holiday on my own. I understood most of the words. The spells were written using wriggly letters which were difficult to read, I had to ask Mummy to help me read those bits. The story words were fine though as the lettering used was straight.

Verdict: I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend other children my age to read it.
