Product Description

Britain's in a state, according to Chairman Alf. Nothing's what it used to be, not even cricket. The Empire may have crumbled but luckily one man is still willing to take a stand --- Chairman Alf. Presenting us with a manifesto to remedy all the nation's problems, the outspoken star of Till Death Do Us Part and In Sickness and in Health is at his most outrageous ever as, live on stage, he rallies supporters to the cause. Chairman Alf's single-handed defeat of the West Indies cricket team, his undying support for West Ham, and why sex for pleasure is not for the working class are just some of the topics on the agenda with the chairman.

5.0 out of 5 stars Course its good, its British innit!!!! 8 May 2011
By Tin Tactoo VINE VOICE
This may seem 'dated' with a few of the gags but overall its 'of its time' today as while this may be a few years old, the theme is oh so sharp and spot on with all the wrongs of the world today being written by the late Johnny Speight and being channeled through Alf Garnett and if nothing else, proves we have not advanced all that much. My favorite line is : "..I have served under 15 Prime Ministers and I have been bladdy poor under every single one of 'em!" and judging by current trends, that is how its going to carry on. I would recommend this to anybody over the age of 25 ish as a reminder that this was an age when the country was 'allowed' to have a sense of humour without the 'big brother' brigade telling you what you could - or not - laugh at.. So go buy it and wallow in it - I did...

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious stage show 23 Oct 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This is a stage show done in the mid-1990s,judging by the references to Kenneth Clarke and John Major in the gags.
Very funny indeed. It isn't like the attempts at a cuddly Alf as in "In Sickness and In Health", it's the vintage 1960s Alf-stupid,foul-mouthed,bigoted,racist-but it's so well written and acted so as you laugh at him,not with him. Some very old jokes are in this show, but there's plenty of original very funny stuff too.

1.0 out of 5 stars GREEN but NOT friendly 18 Oct 2008

Warren Mitchell - The Thoughts Of Chairman Alf [1994]

The low rating it not for the show the show is real great had it on VHS for years. The low rating is for some stupid idea that they had making it a GREEN packaging so DVD comes in cardboard box NO plastic so it is only slid into cardboard slot which falls out & rattles & bangs it's way to your door scratched in the process. Then when taking it in & out again you have to push it into this rough cardboard slot so really what is this suppose to be doing? Ok it is biodegradable but surely if it was packed right in plastic box it would not get scratched & have to be binned anyway.
It defeats object SONY/BMG think in future your not being clever just cheap & tacky.
If I knew it come in such a cheap package I wouldn't pay 50p for it.
If they want to be GREEN why don't Sony & other use smallier packages instead of massive boxes for one small item
I now get off my soap box after my rant WHICH I may add is also biodegradable

Darryl Ashton Presents The Thoughts Of Chairman Alf.
At Christmas...In Poem!

I must be the grumpiest
Person in town,
The mere thought of Christmas
Can bring on a frown.

I can't stand the shops
When the music is blaring.
I hate all the houses
With coloured lights glaring.

I'm not keen on turkey
Or stuffing or sprouts,
And pudding and pies
I can do without.

I battle round Tesco
With huge loads of food,
But this doesn't improve
My already bad mood.

The days leading up
Are a nightmare of stress.
Now my once tidy house
Is a bloody' terrible mess.

I've presents to wrap
And the turkey to stuff,
But now I'm rebelling,
I've just had enough.

So bring me a bottle
Of bubbly or gin,
I'll lie on my sofa
And sink into sin.

I'll eat all the chocolates,
The fudge and the sweets,
The chaos I'll watch
From my cosy retreat.

And don't expect a welcome
And friendly good cheer.
Just "sod off" home
And I'll see you next year!

BY Darryl (ALF JNR) Ashton.
