...when you put a guitar wizard and a vocal guru together.
This is their third collaboration and each one is progressively better.
The Third Cage, however, outshines its predecessors exponentially. The guitar playing is almost surreal. Mollo is a master of his instrument and has made feedback his biotch. Make no mistake, the boy's good - better than most.
Tony Martin sounds as strong as he ever did. His voice is mellowing a bit, and that's not a bad thing. "Mellow" is the difference between a fine wine and a mighty fine wine.
The first time I listened to the disc, I had doubts, but first impressions can be "colored" by the mood one's in. Upon second and successive playings, I found myself wondering, "what in the world was I thinking?"
But, who am I to judge? Just because I've been listening to rock guitarists and vocalist for 40+ years doesn't make me an expert. It does, however, make me ever more certain of what I like.
I like this disc.
Buy it yourself. There's something on it for almost everybody.
