Product Description

Product Description

Bestselling author Michael Port shows all of us how to think BIG to achieve professional and personal success and happiness

If we don′t dream it, we won′t get there. In The Think Big Manifesto, Michael Port takes us on a journey from small thinking to big thinking, from "I′m not sure if I can" to "I know I will." He shows us that thinking big is not only important to each of us as individuals, but that it is also the key to a more collaborative and healthy world. Our personal success and happiness as big thinkers just might be what the whole world needs right now. The Think Big Manifesto introduces a code of conduct, the ten fundamental principles for thinking big, and a call to action for every one of us. These principles aren′t just limited to the business world; they apply to every facet of life–work, relationships, friends, family, and personal growth. Inspiring yet practical and realistic, this book will motivate all of us to think bigger about who we are and what we offer the world.

Michael Port (Doylestown, PA) is the author of Book Yourself Solid (978–0–470–28190–1), Beyond Booked Solid (978–0–470–17436–4), and The Contrarian Effect (978–0–470–23790–8). He is also the creator of ThinkBigRevolution.com, a new online resource for service professionals that will support this book. Mina Samuels (New York, NY) is a freelance writer and editor, as well as a former lawyer.

From the Inside Flap

Every year, millions of people fall victim to a debilitating disease—a disease that cripples careers, destroys relationships, and undermines the health and happiness of the entire world. This disease is responsible for poverty, crime, war, natural disasters, and our economic ills. It has had no name until now—it′s called small thinking. Its hallmarks are a failure of imagination and a disbelief in human possibility.

In The Think Big Manifesto, Michael Port calls you, and the world, to action by offering a simple solution to a serious syndrome. Think big, commit to quantum change, envision your future, climb your mountains, and incite the revolution our society needs—if it is to survive.

But it takes a personal revolution to stop accepting what is and start energetically creating what is possible. You can′t wait until later to do big things. It′s up to you to achieve your dreams, to head in the right direction, and to keep your focus. If you think you′ve waited too long, that there′s no point anyway, or that it′s too late—that′s just small thinking.

But even the most talented and self–confident among us often forget to think big. It′s not always easy to do. That′s why The Think Big Manifesto is not your average motivational guide. In these pages are ten fundamental principles for thinking big and a personal code of conduct for changing the way you approach the world—today. The time has come. Port urges you not to sit back, hesitate, or wait. He awakens your big–thinking self. He stirs the contagious, catalytic power of once dormant big thoughts that are now ready to be released. He asks you to look inward, outward, and upward—to think bigger about who you are and what you offer the world.

The Think Big Manifesto is about changing every aspect of your life—from the way you work to the way you relate to friends, family, and community. With real examples that inspire and inform—like the high school dropout who built a $100 million business or the hedge fund manager who became an organic dairy farmer—The Think Big Manifesto isn′t only about thinking big in your career, but about your very place in the world.

Are you ready to lead the change you wish to see in the world? Your Think Big Revolution starts right here, right now—with you.

I've been buying these kinds of books for the past decade and I think this is the worse I've ever come across. I am surprised by the high ratings on Amazon's America site, probably part of the marketing effort. I bought the book through the reccommendation of Robert Scheinfeld whose work I've enjoyed but I am very disappointed in this product. I was so disenchanted that I only read a few chapters and from what I have gathered; all the author does is to go on with the abstract repetitive platitude ''think big'' without either introducing or expanding on any ideas. His audience, I would believe, would already be familiar with this type of work so he didn't need to do this in a modern book and it gave me the impression that there's some kind of puzzle or something esoteric which he is concealing from his audience... he isn't. I had to take a peep further into the book to see if the writing style or theme changed or if I was missing something... he wasn't. But even if he was, a reader shouldn't have to work so hard to realise this, so I promply wrapped the book for return to Amazon, something I rarely ever do. Save your money folks!!!

I bought this after Seth Godin said it was a great read in his blog, being a big fan of Godin I brought this book without thinking twice.

But it was a big disappointment, anyone who would respond to these kinds of messages has probably already responded to these kinds of messages and doesn't need any help "thinking big"

To summarise the book: Think big, don't worry if you don't think you can do it because you can if you Think Big.

I'll make this quick, as I don't usually feel inspired to post reviews. However on this occasion, having just read the previous (negative) reviews, I felt inspired.
This really is a manifesto for anyone who is truly present, to the dire state of affairs that the Western World currently finds itself in. If you don't see the alarming need to 'rise up'.....then this book isn't for you.
If you're looking for answers, you won't find them here (check out your local 'Guru' for those). However, what you will find is a kindred spirit in Michael, as well as no doubt in the other individuals (like me) who.....just kinda 'get it.'
If you think you're already a 'big thinker' and this does not resonate with you, then may I be so bold as to suggest that maybe you're not quite the 'big thinker' you thought you were.
If on the other hand, you're looking for fellow revolutionaries.....buy it & step up.
