Product Description

Product Description

The follow-up to the author's highly successful The Things He Carried, this book takes the post-resurrection sayings of Jesus as starting-points and uses the same reflection format. The meaning and significance of the resurrection how it was first communicated and how it is communicated to us today, are explored by piecing together these sayings of Jesus.

The Things He Said 31 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A worthy successor to "The Things He Carried", this book repays reading several times. It would make a good basis for a study course or discussion group as well as for personal use - Bishop Cottrell's imaginative writing about the words Jesus said after the resurrection are moving and insightful. His relaxed style is a welcome change from some of the excessively sombre books for this season. His suggested thoughts of some of the people Jesus met, Mary Magdalene, the travellers on the road to Emmaeus, the disciples in the upper room, ring true for many readers.

This is a great little book. Short chapters draw you into the events as if seen for the first time.I will be looking for more books by this author.

Excellent book 3 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
This book, by the former Bishop of Reading, is well worth reading, and re-reading. It brings home all the narrative one hears every Eastertide, and by having short paragraphs and chapters, does not become laborious to read. I will be reading more of Bishop Stephen's work.
