Much has been written about the RUC but this is perhaps one of the better books. The wealth of information, from the establishment of the Force at the time of Partition to the politically expedient name and insignia change in 2001, is invaluable to the historian and student alike. Unique amongst UK law enforcement bodies, its record of service in increasingly difficult and dangerous circumstances is unmatched by any other UK Constabulary.

RUC 27 May 2011

The real stories and above all, TRUTH, about the famous and much missed Royal Ulster Constabulary. Propaganda of terrorists tainted the force, but with time, the truth will prevail as the terrorist falter. An excellent read and insight to the history and lives of those serving in the RUC.

I read this book at one sitting. It is that good!!!! This is a story of courage and dedication unmatched in these islands outside wartime and the author brings to life vividly the eighty years of the RUC GC's existence. By reading this book one can appreciate the sacrifice made by the RUC GC's officers and feel undying respect for those fine men and women.
