The first two sides of this audio book consist of a long monologue which Dufris reads in the most irritating voice I've ever heard. I nearly didn't get past the first cassette but I did and I'm glad because the rest of it was no where near like the beginning. They should really go back and re-record the beginning.
The Testament tells the story of an reclusive billionaire who shortly after completing his last will and testament (3 minutes after) takes a eight storey swan dive out of his office window leaving his heirs to find out what or more to the point what they are not going to get out of his will. The sole beneficiary is an illegitimate daughter who has not been seen for eleven years and is believed to be working as a missionary in the Pantanal somewhere inside the Brazilian jungle. Nate a burned out Washington Lawyer is sprung from Rehab by his old law firm and sent to the jungle to try and find her.
It's a great novel, not perhaps my favourite Grisham novel but they are all good, well written in plain language and you don't see the final twist at the end until it smacks you in the face.
Dufris is a competent reader but annoyingly just uses the same voices as he does in the other audio books he's done and there are a lot of them...
