Product Description

What would a Benedictine Monk, a witch, the Knights Templar, a Sultan, a farm boy and a Greek Pirate have in common?

A beautiful young woman named Rachael.

Set in the 12th Century, a time when knights took vows of poverty, obedience and chastity to secure the Holy Land from the spread of Islam: The Templar's Heart, is the story of a seasoned knight, Thomas, and the young woman he saves from the fate of her mother, who was persecuted for witchcraft. The witch left Thomas a letter he believes to be a prophecy. Acting according to the fate this letter dictates, Thomas falls in love with Rachael, who is also persued by her her betrothed, Gregory.

In his misguided search for Rachael, Gregory gets kidnapped by a charismatic Greek Pirate and his hedonistic crew.

Disobeying the dictates of his Order, Thomas takes Rachael along with his army to Jerusalem. They face the Sultan Saladin at the battle of Hattin. The battle is lost and Rachael is captured. In an amazing twist of events, Rachael must be rescued by her long searching Gregory. But can he overcome his hurt, his anger and his Captain's influence to save his lost love?

The Templar's Heart is the first in my Crusaders series. It is an action and adventure novel, embedded in a strong love story that moves the reader from the fuedal English countryside through Europe and into the throes of battle outside Jerusalem. I hope you enjoy reading it, and know there is much more to come. Thank You.

It took me a while to get into this book as it is written more from the women's point of view, but I'm glad I persevered as I ended up enjoying the story.

I am generally not a fan of historical novels, Crusaders included, and I picked up this book at random to fill some waiting time. As it happened I was well and truly caught in its plot and adventures. It also helped that, surprisingly for a Crusader tale, the main character is a woman, and especially that she is a properly strong heroine. I am now going to procure whether it is followed by the inevitable sequel which is the rule nowadays even though I really do not expect it to match the level of this first one. I just hope it comes close.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended 24 July 2014

Generally I love historical fiction, but this book is rubbish! My mistake; it is a 'Mills and Boon' with cut and paste history interspersed, which is fine if that is what you want. For a strong, brave young woman, Rachael spends a lot of time crying and ranting, then unbelievably excelling at swordsmanship, archery, healing, and anything else the author thought would be good for her to excel at. None of it was believable and I don't know why I bothered to finish it - probably because I had nothing else to read at that moment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliantly moving book 16 Sep 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I usually read historical thrillers or murder mysteries but I thought I would try this for a change as I have a fascination for books about knights and Templars in particular. This book had an equally strong male and female main characters which I like, the love story is there, but adds a deeper more personal edge to the story rather being sloppy or the main focus. I ended the book in tears which can only mean five stars which left me wanting to read more.
