Product Description

When the truth is your greatest danger, and the enemy knows the truth, things can only go downhill when the enemy finally gets the proof. And that's the proof the Hashashin get when they steal what the Vatican doesn't even know it has. Now the infallible decrees of two Twelfth Century popes and three kings, stolen by the Hashashin, threaten to catapult the bigotry, bias, and religious blood baths of the Third Crusade straight into the Twenty-First Century. When Templars Sean Callahan and Marie Curtis are drawn into the mess, they face an ancient enemy that has already nearly won the battle, a newly elected Mexican pope being undermined by entrenched Vatican powers, world class scholars who will sell their prestige to the highest bidder, and terrorists lingering over lattes in sidewalk cafes. Moving from Rome to London, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia, Callahan and Curtis are desperate to find some way to stem the success the Hashashin are having enlisting the majority of moderate Muslims in their Jihad. Out maneuvered at each step by the Hashashin, only a last ditch roll of the dice has any chance of success. But it's the only chance they have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant surprise 20 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I downloaded this with no great expectation that it would not be just another Templar potboiler but I have to say I was captivated by the plot, the characters and their interactions.
On the face of it, to find the Templars not only still in existence but in a position to influence world changing events should be unsettling, as the world probably does not need yet another clandestine operations group, but I found them curiously reassuring. There was enough philosophy scattered amongst the action sequences to satisfy not only my love of the thriller genre but also to stimulate avenues of thought about the consequences of human frailties.
I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who wants a thinking person's thriller.
I look forward to more adventures with these characters. I especially want to read more about his Holiness and his plans for the Vatican.

3.0 out of 5 stars Three and a half stars... 25 Mar 2013

Firstlty I have to say that I couldn't put this book down.
In my opinion the plot was very clever and witty and I often had to remind myself that it was largely fiction - with some accurate historical referances.
Unfortunately the book was littered with spelling and gramtical errors which did detract from the reading experiance slightly as I occasionally had to back-track to read parts again.
All-in-all it was a thouroughly enjoyable read and would recommend it to anybody who liked the likes of Angels and Demons etc.
I believe 'religious thriller' is definitely a nishe genre and one that makes you really question the secrets of the church etc. if your feeling philosophical.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great yarn 18 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Great story, especially for the conspiracy theorists. Fast paced, characters you can like and a refreshingly new pope. Shame about the typos and inaccuracies.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining 15 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Entertaining...somewhat predictable, but entertaining. And it even has a Mexican Pope in the middle of Templars, cardinals and transmissions... cool.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good read 3 Jun 2013

What a good read. From start to finish it has you hooked. A modern day tale of templar history with the Vatican mixed in for a bit of flavour. A very good read

4.0 out of 5 stars A Romping Templar Story with good pace 1 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Several good review of this book tempted me to give it a try, and I was not disappointed, Whereas the story is unlikely, and Pope Dominic even more so, it all contributes to an interesting and fast paced yarn that kept my attention and interest. The date the action is intended to take place is not made clear (vaguely current period is what I understand, as there are no particularly advanced technological devices that imply a more distant future) so, one small point I would take issue with, is when Callahan "shoved a hundred pound note at the (taxi) driver" - there is no English £100 note, there is one in Scotland, and I think also in N. Ireland, (both of which are theoretically legal currency in England), but it is very little used (even in Scotland) and any taxi driver being given one in London would be pretty certain to hand it back assuming it to be counterfeit!

2.0 out of 5 stars Could have been so much more. 2 May 2013

I'll start off by firstly explaining this was not my usual read, normally I stay away from fiction, however this one did take my interest when i started reading it.

At first i was taken in by the dark story line and felt that the author was writing for himself any not anyone else (I like the thought of people having original thoughts and not bending to what the public like to hear) as i got taken in by more of the story I realised i had stumbled over my worst fear when it comes to fiction authors...It was as if there was a check list being ticked off as I read.

I felt this was an author who had a plan for a good book but would more than likely be aimed at a male market, so he cast his net out to try and make the main character have some sex appeal and throw in a woman to make an adequate side line romance with no real purpose.

I will admit this book has suspense, action, a love able yet mysterious main character, romance, mystery and adventure but really do authors need all this?! All became clear when I then looked up the author and found it was part of some series, which for the record I shall not be purchasing.

In future I think I'll stick to my non fiction titles.
