I thought The Legacy was great but have to say I enjoyed this book even more. It follows the lives of two brothers Edward and Alex (the children of the heroine Evelyn in the legacy) and the great ups and downs that cross their paths, with the gypsy curse inflicted on them because a talisman was not placed in the grave of their father Romany Gypsy -Freedom Stubbs. The brothers experience great wealth but have tragedy in their personal lives. The book takes you through different decades and is so well written you imagine you are there! A rags to riches story that money alone doesn't make you happy.

Having avidly read The Legacy, I couldn't wait to get hold of The Talisman and it did not disappoint. To me it felt as if Lynda La Plante had fallen for her characters and really brought them to life. I felt so sorry for the hapless Harriet and the trapped-in-the-middle Jinks (aka Juliana.) Fabulous sweeping saga the likes of which you don't see very often and so superior to her 'thrillers' in every way.

I had read The Legacy some years ago but could not find the sequel to it, The Talisman.A friend recently suggested searching on Amazon.co.uk which I did and I found it. I loved it and will keep the two books for my children to read when they are older and to pass down....

Love Lynda's Books
Really enjoyed this book. Lynda LaPlante writes some fantastic books and this is among her best. Make sure you read it with the other book in the set.

Very enjoyable
Pure escapism here...thoroughly enjoyable, a real page-turner with all the superb ingrediants of romance, terror and lost-love. Excellent!
