Such an extraordinary cast, great level of performance and rough but tasty load of scottish humour. I have seen so many positive reviews of this series - it seems insane this great piece of ententainment isn't available on DVD. I'd buy it instantly.
This mini series shown years ago on television made Sunday evenings well worth watching. Some great character acting (as you would expect from such a strong cast)and wonderful stories combined together to bring a welcome relief from the torments of current life as we know it. Why on earth isn't this available on DVD?
What has Auntie got against the Captain? At least Gregor Fisher is available on VHS, which is more than can be said for Duncan MacRae. All the versions have been strongly cast, and this is probably the closest to the original, despite the addition of characters and events to aid continuity. Given the chance I'd buy them all, but this is fortunately my favourite. If Dougie wass here he would tell you that it wass chust sublime!
