Product Description

This suspense filled action adventure story finds our hero Steven Cross, a veteran CIA spy, assigned to a mission to track down a group of international arms dealers. Cross, at the home stretch of his career with the Agency, has six months to go before his retirement. Twenty-five years in the spy business has made him weary of the whole concept of clandestine and espionage activities. He thought one last routine assignment should not be a problem. Unfortunately, he and his team of field operatives encounter insurmountable odds from an Asian warlord and his gang of ruthless terrorists. Cross witnesses the brutality imposed upon the innocent by these evil people. Nothing will stop them as they plot to unleash worldwide devastation. While his mission begins to unravel he finds himself in the Far East cut off from Washington.

In this constant life and death struggle, there is still time for romance. The women are as vicious as they are beautiful. They work hard, play hard, and kill harder. Encountering traitors in the field and at headquarters, Cross begins to fight back with the help of his Taipei connection and a band of unlikely allies. After the enemy nearly destroys his operation, he is united with a group of U.S. Special Forces who support his mission. It is with their help and his counterparts around the globe that he gains control of his objective. As he probes deeper into this seemingly straight forward assignment, he discovers that it goes beyond what he could ever imagine. Corruption from within the very government he believes in to an organization that is motivated by greed and power drives him to unleash the very terror within himself to counter-act these vile people. He vows to avenge some of his casualties only to find more terror around every corner.

Caveat emptor 18 Sep 2010
By Chopin Gal - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I should have known that something didn't ring true when only five-star reviews (including one by author himself) exclaimed what a fast-paced and engaging thriller this was. Not.

It soon became abundantly clear that this book was not carefully proof read or edited. The grammatical errors (e.g., the proper use of the personal pronoun who/whom after the verb "to be") and the misspellings continually distracted and irritated me no end. The prose itself seemed stylized and wooden. Are we to believe that these professional men and women never use common contractions in their daily speech? I began to wonder if the author was foreign born because of the stilted dialogue. I could not 'buy into' the action because of the slow pace of the conversations.

Also, the plausibility factor was nil. Lowest common denominator used: female agents lusting over their superior officers; the use of "Boss" as best designation for the protagonist by his team; a menage-a-trois which would feed any middle-aged male's libido (or ego). Come on! These are supposed to be top-notch agents. I wanted to care about them. There was nothing to care about.

I regret that I bought this for my Kindle and will not be going back for more, no matter how many five-star reviews wave back at me.

Fast-Paced Adventure with a Bit of Romance 21 Oct 2011
By Donna Hill - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I don't normally read spy thrillers. But I decided to get out of my box and try something new. Robert Cuma writes a story that will resonate with people, especially men, who like fast-paced spy thrillers and want to see a hero who can enjoy multiple affairs with the full permission of his lovers. Steven Cross's ladies not only don't care that he is seeing more than one--they encourage him to spread his love around!

This story is about a ruthless gang of terrorists who are in the business of trafficking nuclear weapons for the purpose of destroying most of the world. The story begins in Washington D.C. and ends up in Asia, mainly Taipei and Manila. Steven Cross is the head of a team intent on stopping the terrorists. The women in the story are more than aggressive, delightful bed companions who initiate almost all the action in Cross's bedroom; they are also on his team and can kill as easily as any man.

If you like spy thrillers, you'll probably like this one as Cuma writes a fast-paced, exciting story with plenty of romantic, sexy escapades. It's every man's ultimate fantasy--some bad guys get taken out, and the good guy ends up with three women to cater to his every desire.
