Girls who enjoy Jacqueline Wilson will really fall for this book. It's an absolutely charming fantasy about a modern girl who discovers the truth about the father she's never met - he's a merman! But how to rescue him from King Neptune's frightening high-security prison, and get her parents back together again? An exciting, pacy read with lots of luscious underwater detail - my two daughters couldn't put this book down.

The deep secret 18 Aug 2007
By Amanda Richards VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
If you liked the movie Aquamarine or the story of The Little Mermaid, you'll probably like this scaly fishy tale about a twelve year old girl with a big secret.

Emily lives with her mother on a boat, and on the day of her first ever swimming class at her new school, she discovers that she's different from her classmates. If she had ever heard of the group Styx, and their classic song Mr. Roboto, she might have sung:

I've got a secret that's been hiding under my skin
My mother's human, my father's missing, and now I have fins
So if you see me swimming freely, don't be surprised
I'm just a girl who needed someone, with something to hide

Exploring the wet element with her new-found talent, she finds a colorful and magical world under the sea, and meets a new BFF who helps her on a big adventure to find her father. Of course they meet all sorts of obstacles in their way, and come up against the dark cloud of the power-crazy water god who doesn't want her to have another bright (bright) bright (bright) sun-shiny day.

Fast and easy to read, this is one that should appeal to young readers up to the age of 12, especially girls, although boys may also find some parts to their liking.

Y3 book review 26 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
This is an incredible by an author that I don't know very well called Liz Kesslen. I think she has written a couple of books. This book is called the tale of Emily Windsnap.

This book is about a girl called Emily. Emily find s out she's a mermaid. She also finds out that her long-lost dad is a merman. She goes in search of her dad with her best freind Shona, while Emily's mum is getting brain swiped by Mr Beeston. Emily's mum forgets all about her old husbend.

I absolutely loved this book because I love a good adventure, but you don't even get a clue that Mr Beeston is bad. I really bit when Emily meets Shona. The first half is not so intresting, because nothing really happens. The second half is like a fairy tale.

Overall I recommend this book to people who like adventure stories.I think people really enjoy this book.

The Tail of Emily Windsnap
Too young in audience. I do not like the text fonts at all which puts me off reading the book.
