I have only recently 'got into' this series of books but brought all of them. I am now reading the sixth in the series, which is the third in this boxed set. I have enjoyed all of the books other than the middle one from this boxed set - 'Soul of the Fire'. Whereas all the other books I have read thus far have been , on the whole, very entertaining, 'Soul of Fire' just seemed to lose its way. The other books tend to revolve mostly around the three main characters, Richard, Khalen and Zedd, but 'Soul of the Fire' got mired in stories about completely different people, which although fairly central to the storyline, could have been covered in much less space. Followers of this series I believe would be far more interested in more content about the three central characters and a more condensed portion alloted to the people in and around Anderith where the majority of the tale is set. If I had started the series with this book (I actually started with the third book and read the first and second afterwards), I doubt I would have bothered with the rest of the books. As it is 'Temple of the Winds' and 'Faith of the Fallen' from this set (the latter which I am reading now) are very good and written in the same vein as most of the earlier books. I picked up the first book I read from this series on holiday in late November 2009 and, despite all the things that come with the very busy time around Christmas (including a lot of photo and video editing from my holiday), I have managed to read four books from the serious and am on another one - and they are all extremely long books of several 100 pages. Anyone who likes fantasy adventure books I am sure would love these books.
