"The Sword of Angels has a large cast, exotic landscapes and lots of action." (Barabara Davies STARBURST ) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

An all-new dose of John Marco's trademark combination of morally ambigous and complex action, tight plotting and vivd characterisation. This is action-driven fantasy, packed with magic, betrayal and battle, from one of the most exciting authors in world fantasy. Set in a richly built world which beautifully evokes of magical lands, is detailed in its dissection of motive, and compelling in its characters, The Sword of Angels is the latest work from a natural and mature storyteller revelling in his ability. Building on the success of the acclaimed 'Tyrants and Kings' trilogy, and his growing fanbase in the UK and US, this is a perfect novel for new readers and old fans of John Marco's work alike. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The Sword of Angels 11 May 2006
Format:Paperback
The concluding volume in this epic series is not quite the triumph I was expecting.

For starters, it was just too long. A lot of scenes were drawn out for not much gain; i.e Lukien's trek for the sword itself, while interesting, I felt was bogged down; the whole library issue and Thorin and Khaldris's need for Gilwyn and the catalogue machine eventuated to nill. Lots of others, but there were some truly brilliant pieces, such as the whole Salina, Aztar, Baralossus events which were highlights, as were the Jazana, Thorin, Asher and Corvalos Chane parts.

The plots and the character's motives were swapped around a bit during the book and granted, it was a brave attempt by the author to try something different. A lot of the cast, big or small, don't have happy endings, but the big let down for me was the final showdown b/n the Sword and the Armour. It lasted maybe 2 pages if that, and the capitulation of the loser was rather weak.

Saying all that, the big, Big, BIG let down with this book was the number of errors in spelling, grammar and all the rest. I know it's impossible to get it perfectly right with a book this big, but the sheer number of mistakes was unprecedented in my 30 year reading experience. There were a least 1 to 2 hundred of these glaring errors throughout the book and this is absolutely unforgivable in this day and age. The Devil's Armour had a few, but nothing compared to this. It's like he wrote the first draft, spell checked it, and released it as is.

It will decide if I ever read another book by this author, especially fork out a lot of money for it.

So in the end, it should have been a classic, still could be if future edition's are cleaned up, but the reality is, it's a wasted opportunity.

Damn shame I say.

Truly a wonderful journey 7 Nov 2005

I have to admit that this series is something you are happy to have been a part. This last installment does have by far the best piece of writing in the series. The characters are well developed and the ending is a twist that is welcome. I must honestly say that I did not expect the ending and for this I was appreciative. Some of the characters may be a bit sallow but I would have to say that I am glad that I read this series and would do so in a heartbeat.

RECOMMENDATION: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

One of the books 3 Jan 2007
By trollocq - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
After reading all the books by John Marco, in the series of Tyrants and King, and now the three books in this series, I have concluded that, for me, John Marco is one of the best writers in this genre (I am looking forward to reading the books of George R. R. Martin when he finishes his series).
I was amazed by the way John Marco can create a world and a story, all his books have a story that is so interesting that you have to keep reading it until you finish it, its a amazing how he handles that many characters and doesn't lose you in the way, how he shows you so many places, each different from the rest, with their own rules and problems.
He does in one book what a lot of writers do in three or more, the story is always advancing and a lot happens in each book, so you are never bored.
If I could give more stars to this book i would(and to all his books, because I like almost all of them the same), I highly recomend all of John Marco`s books to everybody, no only science fiction / fantasy readers, you will enjoy them very much

A book worthy of being in your collection. 27 Oct 2005
By Brent Laughton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
The Sword of Angels is the third book in the Eyes of God trilogy. It is a well written book and never has failed to keep me intrested. John Marco puts alot of time and effort into each character he creates. He adds so much depth to the characters in all three of his books in the Eyes of God trilogy, that you can't but help to feel sad when something dramatic happens to one of the characters. The Sword of Angels is a great book and is worth checking out. If you like Authors such as Robert Jordan and George R.R. Martin I would suggest that you pick up John Marcos The Sword of Angles and his first two books in his trilogy.
