About the Author

Johann David Wyss (1743-1818) was a Swiss author who is best remembered for his book, The Swiss Family Robinson. It is said that he was inspired by Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, but wanted to write a story from which his own children would learn. The Swiss Family Robinson was first published in 1812 and translated into English 2 years later.

A commerce graduate from Haryana, India, AMIT TAYAL also holds a certificate in graphic design as well as a diploma in 2D animation. Having worked as a 2D animator and then a children’s book illustrator, Amit expanded his art into the graphic novel realm where his work continues to enthrall. His work figures notably in The Swiss Family Robinson, available now from Campfire.
