Simply Excellent 20 Oct 2004
Format:Hardcover
I feel like I've read most of the books ever written about the golf swing - this book struck a real chord with my experiences of trying to carry out instruction from other books. I've played golf for about 5 years now and I'm a 23 handicap. Some days I can play to 12 - on others it seems like I'm never going to improve. But, I only play once a week.

Most of what this book covers confirms the best of the other books. However, where this book really scores is in seperating cause and effect. Intellectually I know just about everything this book covers - as I should considering the number of other swing books I've read. What this book covers where others don't is the muscular signals that make the swing work - and those that kill it.

This book is aimed at golfer's of any standard - novice to expert. It succeeds. The instruction is clear, the drills excellent, the method the best I've seen. I'm looking forward to finally being able to consistently find the coorect path to impact with every club in the bag.

Format:Hardcover
Great read. I have made immediate use of the simple but effective swing instruction format...4 steps that really work!
A very different approach to the usual golfing books, contains a proven system of how to obtain an effective & reliable swing.
A well kept secret that is now out in the open! Worth every penny.

Having read most of the golf books on the market (and used a fair number of the training aids) I was suffering from 'paralysis from analysis'. I had tried all sorts of golfing tips and ended up with horrible results. If only I could consistently slice or hook the ball, I'd be happy but each shot was a lottery with direction and distance. I took some lessons at the knightsbridge golf school which really opened my mind to the junk I had been filling my head with. The transformation was amazing, I went from a no hoper shooting 100-120 to a 15 handicap in 3 months. Admittedly, I was totally addicted to the game and practiced 10 mins every day on the swing as well as playing every week, but I had previously put similar effort in for a year and a half without ever becoming a good golfer. I bought this book so that I could remember the teachings of the school without having to get lessons each week!

The book is beautifully presented and develops a good looking, simple and effective swing. The swing is broken down into stages with simple checkpoints at each stage. By learning these stages at home (no need to actually hit golf balls) you quickly ingrain the motion into your subconcious and the swing is there for you to use. You simply swing in slow motion, checking you have it right along the way. It's remarkably simple.

For me, the biggest benefit has been that I simply enjoy the game so mnuch more. Not only am I significantly better.than I was, but my game is now all about choosing the right club and making the right shot. Before, the primary part of my game was all about hitting the ball cleanly and hoping I got hold of it and sent it the right direction, but now I have sufficient confidence to let my swing work. To use an analogy in the book, it's similar to the feeling of getting to grips with driving a car. At first, it's overwhelming, but once you have the gear changes and clutch down (and relegated to the subconcious), you can concentrate on your surroundings and executing the right driving moves knowing you can do it. That's how it feels for me, I know I will swing the club and hit the ball straight, I just have to select the right shot. I can't begin to tell you how much more enjoyable that makes the game.

I'd highly recommend this to any golfers that are struggling after trying lots of other methods. For new golfers, I'd say this is even more important. With this book and about a month of home practice for 5-10 mins a day, the new golfer can go to the driving range and be hitting the ball straight and far remarkably quickly. I know this because, having recommended several friends to the school (and now book) I have watched people who never picked up a club before competing with me (now a 15 handicap) on the course very quickly. If you want to introduce a friend to golf, buy him this book in the winter and tell him to do as it says. By the time the courses open again in Spring, you'll have somebody who can match you for hitting.
