this is the first time I've written a review so I must have a special reason for doing so. That reason is this was such an enjoyable book I just have to recommend it. On the one hand, I couldn't wait to get to the end to see how it finished but on the other, I didn't want it to end because I was enjoying it so much! There is a lot of tension with the psychologist trying to solve the murders and trap the murderer whilst being pursued by the police who are convinced that he is the murderer. Extremely well written, easy to read, a great plot, lots of suspense and twists ... an excellent read.

Breathtaking 13 Mar 2004
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I read this book last week and have been emailing friends ever since to make sure they grab a copy too. (The last time I felt this way about a book was Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - and I think that over the next few months The Suspect will achieve the same kind of success.) From the first page, you're drawn into O'Loughlin's life - and when his life is turned upside down, you'll find yourself hanging by your ankles too. After that, you'll be turning pages so fast you get friction burns. OK, there's the odd expression here and there that jars with O'Loughlin's supposed Anglo-Irishness (the writer is Australian) and some of the names are a bit off the wall, but hey, that's very small beer. Overall, the writing is so good, strong and beguiling that you're not just rivetted to your seat, you're positively nail-gunned. (And no, I'm not the author or publisher!!) I haven't seen this on the bestseller shelves yet (but it assuredly will be very soon) - I'll be watching this space closely to compare reviews.

'The Suspect' is a revelation. I can't remember the last time I picked up a book and became so immersed in the lives of the characters. Joe O'Loughlin, a well-meaning psychologist, has his perfect life turned upside down by unseen forces in a classic story of the wronged man framed for a murder he didn't commit. If Hitchcock were alive he'd be jumping all over this story. As it is, I've heard the BBC have been quick off the mark and secured the rights. Don't wait for the TV drama. Read it now. The ending will rock you!

Great read
You always think you know how a book is going to end when you get about 100 pages from the end, not with Michael Robotham he keeps you guessing right up till the end.
