Product Description

From the Author

How to be resilient in today's world!
I spent over thirty years researching the inner nature of highly resilient survivors. My book, The Survivor Personality, shows how to bounce back from difficulties, "read" new realities rapidly, have a learning/coping reaction instead of a victim/blaming reaction, adapt to changed circumstances quickly, sustain good energy in negative environments, thrive under pressure, cope well with crises, gain strength form adversity, and have a talent for serendipity.

Chapters: Life is Not Fair--and That Can Be Very Good for You. Playful Curiosity: Learning What No One Can Teach. Flexibility: An Absolutely Essential Ability. The Synergy Imperative. Empathy is a Survival Skill. The Survivor’s Edge: Subconscious Resources. The "Good Child" Handicap. Thriving in Rough Circumstances. How to Be Positive About Negative People. How to Handle Yourself With Angry People. The Roots of Resiliency: Your Inner "Selfs." Self-Managed Healing. Surviving Emergencies and Crises. The Will to Live: Human Nature vs. Mother Nature. Learning From Survivors of Torturous Conditions. The Serendipity Talent: Turning Misfortune Into Good Luck. Surviving Being a Survivor. Our Transformation to the Next Level of Development.

For anyone who has ever survived a trauma of ANY kind.... natural disaster, sexual abuse, violence, or a personal disaster of any kind..... this book will help you to understand WHY you survived when others did not -- or help you learn HOW to survive when you thought you never could.....

This book had an enormous impact on me.... It explained many of my inherent traits, that others had seen as "weaknesses", as survivor STRENGTHS -- and I realized that I wasn't as crazy as I thought I was! *grin*

This is a very good and interesting book. It reads easy and goes deep into the survivors mind. It will also learn you some good ways to learn how to become more survival minded.

Worthwhile 16 July 2011
Format:Paperback
I have dipped into about 5 random chapters so far and I am pleased with the portions I have read of this book.

It lives up to the good reviews it has received on the various Amazon sites. Another purchaser's review on the US Amazon site said that one particular chapter was worth the purchase price alone, and I agree with that sentiment. The chapter discusses why other people might dislike, misunderstand, and discriminate against survivor types, which is indeed helpful if you have been on the receiving end of those reactions yourself, but didn't know why.

The author injects some humour into his subject - I have laughed out loud unexpectedly several times while reading this book. It's quick to read, contains some good information that one can put into practice if one wishes, and is somewhat reassuring to the "survivor" types of outliers (especially female ones) who sometimes face social disapproval for no apparent (to themselves) reason.
