I was looking for tips and advice to improve my surfing and enjoy Surfgirl Magazine, so I've checked out Surfgirl's Handbook and have been impressed. It's covered everything I can think of that I or any of my friends would need to know about starting to surf, and has really good advice on training, eating healthily and what you need before you even hit the water.
The book looks great, lots of inspirational pictures to get you motivated to surf- whether it's in the UK or a surf trip abroad. I especially liked the `Escape' chapter that gives you the breakdown on where to travel to around the world, what to expect and what £20s will get you.
Beginner surfers would be very encouraged by the book, especially as it gives a comprehensive explanation of what you need, techniques for when you are in the surf, and most importantly- water safety. Whereas for the more intermediate or advanced surfer, there is a good amount of advice for how to progress, improve techniques and even for `what not to do' when going for bigger/better waves.
The book would make a really good gift, or would help give you a boost when you need some inspiration to surf on those grey cloudy/colder days (which can be any day in the UK of course).
