Format: Mass Market Paperback
The Superhormone Promise certainly is one of the most informative works on the natural hormones DHEA, Pregnenolone, Testosterone, Estrogen and Progesterone, Thyroid Hormone, Growth Hormone and Melatonin. It clearly explains the power of superhormones to boost the immune system, enhance libido, strengthen bone and muscle, relieve depression & stress, improve memory, reduce body fat, reverse aging, and much more.

Pregnenolone is the best safe substance for increasing mind power and improving mood, DHEA excels at increasing libido and providing energy, whilst Melatonin is a wise choice for a good night's sleep and for strengthening immunity. Combining these with the daily use of a multivitamin & mineral supplement plus free-form amino acids may lead to even more impressive results.

DHEA & Pregnenolone are discussed in chapters one & 2, followed by testosterone in the next two chapters. Estrogen & Progesterone are dealt with in part three. Chapters 7 & 8 examine Thyroid Hormone & Human Growth Hormone respectively; chapter 9 is devoted to Melatonin and the last deals with dosages and how to take the superhormones.

Appendix 1 provides information on resources & diagnostic tests; Appendix 2 is a scientific article by Regelson with Dr Mohammed Y Kalimi titled: "DHEA - A Pleiotropic Steroid. How can one Steroid do so much?" from the journal Advances in Anti-Aging Medicine, vol. 1 of 1996.

This book is a great read. Very informative for the individual to make an informed choice as to wheather they want to follow the recommended dosage of harmones mentioned in the book. This I have chosen to do and I can not remember feeling this well for many years. I suffer from ME/CFS and it has increased my energy dramatically.

I strongly recommend this book to all people aged 30 and over. It is easy to understand and written in an engaging style so that every possible question is answered. I also recommend Stopping the Clock by Dr Ronald Klatz, Renewal by Timothy J Smith and Mind Boosters by Dr Ray Sahelian.

For anyone wanting to take their health into their own hands, this is a great start. Both male and female can learn about hormones, the rolls they play and why they need to be replaced as we age in order to stay healthy. A must read.

Good Hormone Textbook But Has Its Limits 14 April 2013
By WineCountryLover - Published on Amazon.com

This book dates from 1996 and the MD author is gungho for all kinds of bioidentical hormones, especially DHEA. But time has passed and DHEA has a lot of detractors now as it can build up in the system with negative side effects. However, you will learn all you ever wanted to know about the various male and female hormones and that was the reason I bought the book used at Amazon. I admit I have been using the cream form of the precursor hormone pregnenolone, but only in 5 mg doses and with lots of vacation times as suggested by nutritional commentator Ray Sahelian. For me it's mood elevating and improves my muscle strength, good enough for an older woman. The other stuff I'd leave alone unless I had confirming medical tests that I needed them. For an overall good explanation and evaluation of hormones, it's a good read. I just have trouble with the oversell of hormone therapy. Like trying to put a sports car engine in a Model T Ford. The outcome might not be so good. They are steroids after all.
