The ancient Mayans were in possession of an extraordinary wisdom, with a highly sophisticated grasp of astronomy and a mysterious ability to predict the future. Modern scientific research is only now starting to catch up and bear out the secrets encoded within the ancient Mayan tradition. But how did these people, living in the jungles of Central America more than 1,000 years ago, come to possess such advanced esoteric knowledge? Who were these people and where did their super-knowledge come from?

Cotterell sets off for the Mexican ruins to uncover the truth. There he revisits the tomb of the ancient Mayan priest king and through a unique decoding process discovers that this man had access to knowledge far beyond the reach of ordinary mortals. Supergods reveals how this king was the man who brought super-knowledge to his people, and goes on to show how he left encrypted in his tomb a message that has profound relevance for everyone living in the world today…

From the Back Cover

THE WORLD WILL END IN 2012.

So said the ancient Mayan people – who were convinced we are living in the fifth, and final age of the sun. Now the mysterious beliefs of the Maya are being backed up by modern scientific research – but how did a people living more than 1,000 years ago in the jungles of Central America come to possess such extraordinary prophetic insight. Where did this super knowledge come from?

Combining the skills of a private detective with the passion and nerve of Indiana Jones, Maurice Cotterell sets out to discover the truth. His journey takes him to the Temple of Inscriptions in Palenque, to the tomb of the Mayan priest-king Lord Pacal. Pacal’s tomb is laden with mysterious carvings, jewellery and paintings, the significance of which have never been fully grasped – until now. Using a unique decoding process Cotterell painstakingly reveals the messages left in the treasures – and the conclusions he reaches have profound implications for us all.

This book is an addictive read if you wish to learn of ancient civilisations and the effect they still have on todays society.Whilst this book promotes just one man's theory it compells the reader to examine in more detail other theories on the same subject. This well written and carefully researched book will make you hungry for more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent concept. Absolutely worth reading. 14 Nov 2009
Format:Hardcover
You will enjoy this book depending on whether or not you have a closed mind to alernate concepts of our world and past that have not been indoctrinated to you since your youth. I enjoyed it immensely and it made a great deal of sense. It's well researched, well thought out, planned and executed and most importantly leave you thinking over the content and ideas within it for long after you finish. I myself have read this book more than once since i first got it years ago and recommend giving it at least two reads through.

The book deals with the possibility that a group of intelligences that periodically visit the earth with the intentions of educating our people and advancing them. But this is no sensationalist UFO book, far from it. No tales of flashing disks in the sky or any such yarn is spun and the book fares all the better for it. Instead were are shown a collectinve study of how these indivuduals that came to earth might even be linked to each other.

The book primarily deals with the Mayans and the Mayan god-king Lord Pacal. His story is the most fascinating one in the book and is a little shallow in my opinion, i found myself wanting to know more and more about this person as i read it. Mayan transformers and their mysteries are clearly explained in the book and with some shocking results.

In short i say that if you have any interest in alternative human history or the Mayan culture then definitely buy this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another piece to the puzzle 18 Aug 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have been reading/studying literature of this sort on and off for over a decade. Although as with other works alot is pure conjecture and an expanded view of the authors beleifs it still provided me with yet another piece of an ever more expanding and complex puzzle. Eygptology began my journey and hancocks works led me to mayan culture. For all those who seek the knowledge it is not held in one book but spread through many. This book is another essential read if only for the last two chapters which serve as another step in a long and illuminating journey. 5.0 out of 5 stars Supergods are real! 9 Aug 2009
By Wesley A. Ornick - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Maurice Cotterell is a very smart researcher, using super-computers to get star alignments and to undertake scientific anthropology and different religious accounts and belief systems to show that supergods or men with super=powers have been visited or influenced cultures at times where the counterparts were still dwindling. Jesus or his likelihood were in various cultures at the same point and time feeding and educating people in a high-tech form where nowadays religions are mixed but all have the same stories...little different based on location and current environmental states -- from healers to being reborn and using stars, animals and power to understand and explained earth's oldest mysteries. Where did the jump in technological advancements arise from? Where did the measurement systems come from used to construct or place the Pyramids when they didn't have that system -- sketches, photos and star alignments show the GODs from above the people spent their days trying to reach and match...very cool from a scientific and historical perspective...a fun and mind-opening read -- hold on tight.

Its a new perspective for human history. This book is beyond modern belief. Maurice M. Cotterell expose the evidence that there could have been another meaning behind the oldest constructions of past civilizations. This book is a great work.
