5.0 out of 5 stars The best album this band has made! 19 July 2008
By Dave
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
If you enjoy a lively, energetic full bodied rock `n` roll sound, then you cannot afford to miss this fantastic new album from Showaddywaddy!

Forget all the old Showaddywaddy images in your mind as this album is nothing like that - and the band went to the actual sun studio in Memphis (where Elvis started) to record it! The album opens with a fantastic bang `Flyin Saucer Rock `n`Roll` and is my personal favorite, but every single track is great and sadly through lack of promotion ( a standard Showaddywaddy failing) a lot of people will miss out on what this band are capable of! They are true rock `n` rollers that have created a fresh sound that is simply bursting with a youthful energy that doesnt seem possible with a band that has had THIRTY FIVE YEARS under their belts! - FANTASTIC STUFF -BUY IT OR LOSE OUT!!

5.0 out of 5 stars THERES LIFE IN THE OLD DOGS YET 25 May 2008
Format:Audio CD
Ive been a fan of the band since NEW FACES (DONT ASK HOW OLD I AM) seen them live many times and bought everything theyve ever put out good and bad! The news of this latest record had me feeling a little apprehensive and i wondered whether the boys would pull it off. GREAT NEWS they pulled it off in spades!! i have a very large collection of original rock and roll and i can tell you showaddywaddy have recorded a blinder! forget what youve heard by the boys before and buy this album if youve ever been a fan of roots rock n roll the real deal recorded the way its meant to be.
The production is fantastic, the vocals inspired, if thats what they can do after a trip to memphis i sugesst they bloody well move out there for the next record!! very enjoyable buy it buy it and bop!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Raw, rootsy, rock 'n' roll 25 Oct 2008
Format:Audio CD
This album is a rock 'n' roll goldmine. It's full of unearthed gems performed by a revitalised band.

The Wad haven't sounded so consistently good as this for years in fact this is arguably the most consistent album they've ever produced, the quality (and energy) is unremitting from start to finish.

The vocal charisma of Dave Bartram shines on tracks like Tweedle Dee, Uranium Rock and Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go; these numbers create the same kind of joy the Wad conjured in their chart heyday.

Elsewhere the guitar playing of Danny Wilson is superb, the entire band sound so energised.

This album reconnected me with roots of rock 'n' roll. Thanks boys - and here's to a Volume 2!

As for the album itself a welcome return to the band's rock'n'roll roots with 18 jumping track's recorded at the Sun studios in Memphis. You'll certainly be lovin' up a storm if you do what I do and lets go lets go lets go out and buy this latest album cause i betcha gonna like it

5.0 out of 5 stars I Don't Like It...I LOVE IT! 26 Sep 2014
Format:Audio CD
Wow this is a great CD. This album, released in 2008, has 18 great tracks that shows SWW are still an awesome rock n roll band. I wish that I had seen the 2014 version before buying as it has 2 bonus tracks on it, but I can live without those. I would say 'Sun' is possibly the second most famous label in American music, the first most definitely in my opinion being 'Tamla Motown'. At Sun recording studio, a man by the name of Sam Phillips recorded and produced thousands of songs for the likes of Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Ballard, Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich, Carl Perkins, Billy Lee Riley... the list goes on and on. I think it is truly amazing that this one man actually recorded almost 10,000 songs in his studio for so many different artists. The album begins with "Lift Off", a short 30 second countdown intro, then kicks straight into action with the great "Flying Saucer Rock N Roll", a Billy Lee Riley song. Then there are other gems too, such as "Tweedle Dee", a song recorded by Elvis, a song penned and recorded by Roy Orbison called "Claudette", which also appeared as a B side by the Everly Brothers on their classic single "All I Have To Do Is Dream", the awesome "Lovin' Up A Storm", originally recorded by the 'killer' Jerry Lee Lewis, "Drinking Scotch", a song recorded by Gene Simmons (not the KISS frontman of the same name), and the classic "Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go", a song recorded by Hank Ballard who also wrote "The Twist" made famous by Chubby Checker. There are also a number of tracks here that were recorded by 'Sun' but were never actually released, so they are heard here for the first time. Read more ›

3.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly disappointing.
Was actually rather disappointed in this when playing it for the first time, especially as all their other albums have been so good.
