Product Description

Product Description

Some people run for weight loss, general fitness, or the ability to eat whatever they want. In The Summit Seeker, Vanessa Runs explores trail and ultra running on an emotional, psychological, and spiritual level.

Vanessa started running to battle her demons, to heal her deepest wounds, and ultimately, to find her peace in the mountains. Her vivid descriptions of spectacular trails call you into wild places where you will find rugged beauty, expansive wilderness, and deep personal insights.

Weaving her personal stories of struggle, hunger, and adventure, Vanessa tugs at our heartstrings and appeals to our most primitive drive as a species: to survive.

Really enjoyed reading this book. Vanessa really opens up about all aspects of her life and love of trail running so that by the end of the book you almost feel like you know her well enough to ring her up and go for a run. The writing manages to capture some of the magic of trail running. This is as much Vanessa life story as it is a book about running and you wont find many tips on running. However what you will find is a highly enjoyable read and a very personal view into the mind of another ultra runner.

An enjoyable read, filled mainly with thoughts and musings...the kind of stuff a long distance runner might mull over on a run, be it to meditate, solve a problem, reflect on the day... It's a book that can be delved into on and off as each section stands alone, as opposed to telling a story from beginning to end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read for trail runners 11 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Enjoyed this book, puts into words what is sometimes difficult to do i.e. the often esoteric appeal of running in high places.
The only reason it fell short of 5 stars is the style can be a bit "American" or gushing at times, but that's probably more a reflection of our Brit tendency to be overly self-deprecating :)

This is a great book. I really enjoyed the experiences Vanessa takes us on and the way she writes is easy to read. I didn't want the book to end.
