Alan Matthews was born in Middlesbrough in 1955. He is a highly experienced and inspiring trainer, coach and speaker. He has run his own training business since 2003, specialising in helping individuals and organisations to be more successful by transforming the way they communicate. In particular, he works with trainers and presenters who want to be more effective and have a greater impact on the people they speak to.
He has written extensively on training for many years and publishes regular articles on his blogs at http://www.TransformYourTraining.com/training-tips-blog and http://www.TransformYourPresentations.com/blog He has also written numerous booklets and e-books.
Alan has been involved in adult learning and development for around 20 years. He started his career as a Primary School teacher, then changed direction and joined the Inland Revenue to train as a Tax Inspector (we all make mistakes, it seemed like a good idea at the time). He then joined Deloitte, one of the world's largest professional services firms, as a Tax Consultant and soon became involved in designing and delivering their training programmes.
After several years using his wit and wisdom to help people understand the complexities of Tax Law, he moved into training in management and communication skills, becoming Head of the Skills Development team for the UK Tax Practice.
Alan is known for his great sense of humour and his down-to-earth approach, both of which are reflected in his writing.
Alan publishes training and presentation tips every day on Twitter. You can follow him at www.Twitter.com/AlanMatthews11
