3.0 out of 5 stars OK for background reading 18 Oct 2012
My main reservation is that such is the pace of change in social policy that a book which is only revised every 3-4 years isn't going to serve well. This edition was published in 2008 - we've had a general election since then and, with that, some significant changes in legislation,

As the title suggest this book came recommended to me by some University Students studying Social Policy. Enormously full of interesting knowledge and reading for anyone interested in Social Policy or who is perhaps considering studying Social Policy. I found the book easy to read with a good simply layout to follow! Someone told me this book would see you through a three year Social Policy Degree and I have no doubt it would, the information is vast!

I found this too indepth for my Social Policy module on the Social Work course. Quite hard to dip into but I'm sure its good if you need very thorough knowledge of Social Policy. Personally I far prefer the accessibility of the Baldock text.
