Book Description

1 Feb 2001 Stephen Leather Thrillers

As a big player in the 90s London underworld, Terry Greene has always made a priority of 'taking care of business' personally. It's always good for the troops to know that the boss ain't too squeamish to clean up his own mess. Preston Snow was out of line. So the up-close-and-personal visit was in no way out of character.

It was a messy hit. But the job was done.

More messy however, was the aftermath. Fingered by one of his own crew, Terry finds himself taking the fall and is put away for life. The only person he can really trust in the entire world is his estranged wife, Sam. She must now take over the reins of his organisation, find the snitch and - in theory - get Terry off the hook. But after a shaky start, she quickly starts to get her own ideas . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining read worth every second!! 1 Nov 2000
Format:Paperback
Leather's easy writing style makes this novel a pleasure to read. The rapid-fire dialogue and scenes are cinematic, and the storytelling puts most movies to shame. The main characters were given depth, making them three dimensional and believable. As the story developed I found myself eager to see what was in store for each of them.It is rare to find a plot, that is simple yet so fast moving and exciting and told in a style so economical it makes you breathless. The story-line has its interesting twists and turns and un unexpected fnale that comes as a shock.Don't wait for the paperback edition get this one now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read 10 Nov 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like the books I've read so far by Stephen Leather and this is no exception. It's well written and each of his books although about murder have a different style. Some authors have the same format and can get a little boring.

If you like murder books then it is worth giving this book and others of his especially the Basement a try.

Just don't expect to be intellectually challenged but if you want an absorbing book and not similar to other murder fiction writers do read it.
