Review
'Poor and desperate lives transformed by the power of love shown in deed and truth. Sarah has lived what Jesus preached.' (Jackie Pullinger )
From the Author
The story behind this bookAs an English girl at the age of 27 I had the life I had always dreamed to have - producing television programmes in London and promoting top Hollywood films like; Superman III, The Killing Fields, 101 Dalmations, Greystoke, the Legend of Tarzan. What more could I wish for? I was working with top artists, the beautiful and the famous, there were regular parties, boyfriends and international trips. My salary was excellent. Yet deep inside I felt that my life was incomplete.
After a series of unexpected events my life changed competely including my career and my plans. I gave my life to God, joined a missionary organisation and followed a call to help the children living on the streets in Brazil.
From the world of film and television, I went to live in a shantytown in Rio de Janiero, where I had contact with the reality of poverty and the suffering, drug trafficking gangs, and principally the pain of these children living in the gutters of the city streets.
This book tells of God's incomparable love. You will follow me in my faith, battles, difficulties and determination as together with my Brazilian husband and our incredible team we try to bring a new life and dignity to the children on the streets.
In 1993 we founded a ministry called 'Happy Child' with a beautiful farm and three houses in the city of Belo Horizonte where hundreds of children and teenagers have now left the streets behind and are rescued, rehabilitated, re-educated and reintegrated into society - working and studying. Many have been able to return home.
I want to share to the world that there is hope and a solution. Hopefully when you've read this book you will no longer see these children as little 'criminals' but as children who are crying out for attention and care, love and principally for the opportunity to have their childhood given back to them and a chance to develop their talents and attributes.
