I really enjoyed this book, which I bought because it was set in New York and because of the author's dedication to Manhatten. I knew with a dedication like that the book wouldn't fail Manhatten lovers. Having just returned to London after several years there I craved my fix of the city and this book certainly provided it, from Soho to Central Park. This is a story about a trendy young British artist who goes to New York to set up her first show and becomes an unwilling sleuth caught up in the darker side of the Manhatten art world. The story kept me reading and guessing up until the end, while the descriptions of the city, the people and life there made me laugh and nod in recognition. The author doesn't get so caught up with the investigation that she forgets to let us enjoy the nightlife, but the constant references to drug use added nothing to the story and put me off the otherwise likeable main character a little. Anything she did she could have done on alcohol alone! John Grisham it ain't, perhaps more Brigitte Jones on drugs with a dead body on her hands.
