What Tony Bacon doesn't know about guitars isn't worth reading. This is a masterful account of the life and times of the Strat from its conception, development and launch in the 50's, the 60's, troubled 70's (though Bacon has some interesting things to say about this period and dispells a lot of the negative myths), the 80's rebirth and its current continued world dominance.
The pictures and illustrations are wonderful throughout and might make even the most dyed in the wool Les Paul afficionado consider ditching the Gibsons.
Unarguably, one of the very best books available about arguably the world's best electric guitar design.
