A Best Of Vinicio Capossela, also known as the "Italian Tom Waits" but really a unique singer with a highly personal style. (though I suppose being compared to Tom Waits is quite a compliment). Destined for the American market and IMO a better choice than the other compilation "L'indispensabile / Best of". A great synopsis of his early work, though it contains nothing from recent career highs "Marinai Profeti e Balene" and "Rebetiko Gymnastas" which are even more highly recommended.

I have all the cds of Vinicio Capossela and he is a real show man , probably the most strange , original and incredible italian singer . If you have the luck to see him live go , without any doubt , you' re going to see an incredible show , a circus and listening to this cd your will celebrate the essential Vinicio , his magic and dreaming world . Raise your glass and enjoy the music !!

Perhaps the only contemporary Italian musician to go beyong national boundaries and cliches, Vinicio Capossela has managed to attain that elusive of all musical goals: to find his own honest and unique voice and sound in a cacophony of commercial "pap" offerings.
I believe he is going to perform live @ the Barbican 15th Feb 2011.
I would say go to the concert and get you CD autographed by the man himself!

A very good selection of Vinicio's production, mostly based on recent work. "Ovunque proteggi" and "L'uomo vivo" are masterpieces that alone justify the purchase, not to speak about "SS dei naufragati" and other beatiful classics.

This studio collection matches quite closely the show that Vinicio has been bringing around lately, "Solo Show".
