'A must for Roses fans and musos alike.', The Big Issue

Product Description

The band, the lifestyle, the revolution. This classic biography charts the phenomenal rise of The Stone Roses to the icons they are today, using interviews, rehearsal tapes and the archives of author John Robb who was with them from the beginning.

Robb's exclusive inside knowledge of The Stone Roses creates a compelling and intimate insight into how the band single-handedly set the blueprint for the resurgence of UK rock 'n' roll in the 1990s: Ian Brown's new lazy-style vocals, Reni's fluid, funk-tinged, ground-breaking drumming, and the guitar genius of John Squire.

From the band members' early years to the inception of the Roses, through the tours and success, their influences and style, to the demise of the original line-up and their solo careers; every high and low is documented in minute detail.

Fully revised and updated, this is the definitive, most revered account of one of Britain's most important bands.

It is okay 24 July 2005
Format:Paperback
I had this for a while before reading it and yes, it tells the story of The Stone Roses who I love but it just isn't very well written. There is poor grammar and repetition throughout and the later period isn't dealt with in any great depth.

The book looks great but I felt "Was that it?" after I finished reading it but if you want the best book about The Stone Roses then I have a feeling this is the book that you should get.

why did I wait so long! classic book that really gets the feel for manchester in the late eighties that no other book has. central to it all of course are the roses- one of the classic British bands. I couldn't put the book down- t refernces all the great manchester mini scenes and people of the time and reads like it was written by someone who was actually there.

The Stone Roses: And the Resurrection of British Pop
Jonn Robb writes with a very colloquial style in this book. The style does the job well - it's easy and readable and shows enthusiasm for the Band. Read more
