Product Description

Product Description

Go where the past and future converge, into a world of roaring engines and gleaming metal, top hats and corseted silk gowns ...where alternate histories play out in a film reel of fantasy, adventure, and magic. A wildly popular genre that is gaining momentum, steampunk - an eclectic literary, visual, and cultural trend - is exquisitely fashioned in this stunning new tarot deck. Retooling the gears of the Rider-Waite tradition with a steampunk edge, the artwork evokes our complex relationship with science and technology. The included manual provides tips, original spreads, and guidance in card interpretation.

Steampunk theme but still excellent deck 23 Mar 2012
By S. Hoben - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
The art work has a lot of detail which I appreciate, and the steampunk theme well done. The colors are muted with brown overtones sort of like an old vintage photo. I really enjoyed the aviatrix on the mechanical chariot, the devil card is well done and captures my attention, but my favorite card is the knight of pentacles who is a British soldier with pith helmet and red tunic with a mechanical device strapped to his back. For those of you who don't know steampunk is sort of quirky mix of science fiction, steam engines and Victorian era fashion, with some emphasis on gears and clockworks all very neat. Having said all of that this is still a serious and accurate tarot deck. The book itself is some 294 pages with the core meaning of each card given and then a more detailed description, plus a page devoted to the picture of the card tying everything together. I enjoyed the spreads at the back of the book in particular Panoramic Photograph Spread. My only complaint is that the cards feel a little bit thin. Thanks Barbara Moore and artist Aly Fell, for a nicely themed deck.

Where physics and metaphysics meet 4 April 2012
By KwikiTart - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Delightful! The illustrations should appeal to steampunk afficionados/-as of all stripes and flavors. I particularly like the "Devil" card represented by a mechanical demon gone horribly rogue in a laboratory. Hey, we've all been there...

And since it's not intuitively obvious by the description, this item comes with booklet AND deck.

Comfort of Steampunk and Tarot 7 April 2012
By Ela-Waya - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
When I first was looking for this deck, I have to say that it was not clear to me if cards came with the deck or not. Second when I viewed this product the description was (Hardcover) which was not and now I see is changed to paperback. I however still purchased this book with hopes it came with the deck too. And I was very relieved that it did! So far this is a great deck and I'm liking the book as well. I do have to comment on the quality of the paper that Llewellyn choose and no organdy bag for the cards. It does feel a bit flimsy to me (I have had worse) but some of my cards are already wearing. It would have been nice to see a unique box along with this amazing deck. But I am still excited to have this deck in my collection.

I also have to add that I really love the art work and the different twist each Pip card has. They just flow well together along with the few pages I have begun to read of the manual. I'm excited to digg into more!
