Book Description

13 Oct 2012
Steampunk is the fastest growing subculture around. It imagines a world in which steam is the main locomotive power driving submersibles, rockets and ships across the world. And it features Victoriana, time travel and adventure, all elements in this wonderful new tarot. The major archetypes are the Gods of the Machine, and the four suits are Airships, Engines, Submersibles and Leviathans. This interaction of energies offers wisdom and direction from an alternative reality, but still relevant to us today.

5.0 out of 5 stars An alternate reality that actually works. 21 April 2013

This deck combines the energy of the books I read as a boy (Jules Verne, H.G. wells) with the in-depth knowledge of the Tarot that John and Caitlin Matthews possess. Combined with the brilliance of the illustrations, the result is a stunning deck. Both from a spiritual point of view as seen from the mind of a child that is fascinated by Steampunk technology. This deck manages to capture the essence of what Steampunk is and adds a few very original spreads that actually work on a different level than most other tarots. This is not a deck that simply sticks Steampunk images on top of the standard Tarot. Instead, it creates a whole new set of archetypes based on the Steampunk universe, using the major an minor arcane structure of the Tarot.
Recommended for any Tarot lover who can still find the adventurous child in him (or her) self!
