Product Description

Product Description

The complete guide to professional spying for 8-to-80-year-olds.

Whether you're just a bit nosy, or you want to launch a full-scale investigation of your neighbours, this indispensable handbook will teach you everything you need to know. There are practical sections on codes, ciphers, invisible ink and signalling, as well as guidance on drops and safe houses.

This book teaches you how to spot when somebody is lying, and how to lie effectively yourself. There are sections on successful disguise and how to structure a spy ring, including psychological recruitment strategies, psychic surveillance, and spotting moles. And there's technical advice too about constructing bugging devices and setting traps. Herbie Brennan interlaces the facts with anecdotes about real-life spies, making this unique handbook an entertaining armchair read as well as an essential tool for any budding (or currently serving) MI6 operative.

The Spy's Handbook 13 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
This book is perfect for the younger ages (although, being 17, I still like to revert back to non-working life!) The book is not hard to read, FULL of humour, and at the same time it is very informative.

The presentation of the book is clear, with diagrams galore. The book teaches the reader to do numerous things, such as: Build an enigma machine, learn morsecode, Learn the spy vocabulary, create your very own "Spy Ring" and much, much more.

Those who are hesitating/just browsing for a spy book, I'd say this would be THE book for you. Usually, I find something bad about anything, but I really can't with this. I just wish it came with some brain-enhancing formula So I don't have to struggle to learn morsecode!!

So, to summarise, the book is entertaining, well written, well illustrated and very informative. Worth every penny of the price.

By Pedro
Format:Paperback
I enjoyed this book which had very clear information on a number of Espionage subjects.

However I felt that the book was written by someone who over a period of time, and whilst engaged on other projects had gathered information on the subject and who later decided to use that information to write yet another book!!

I thought that the majority of the sections within the book were excellent and very informative, but then this was spoilt when you read the instruction to ask mummy or daddy for permission to take a certain course of action.

Was this book intended for serious reading into the subject of espionage or was it wriiten for children?
